I’m trying to get this mount and the achievement, I have been fishing in Drustvar (where the drop rate is the highest compared to other BfA zones according to WoWhead) for 5 or 6 days (16.000 tries) and I still didn’t get it.
Am I just unlucky or is the drop rate extremely low?
sadly not really.
only exploiters and multiscumers abused this bug at start, got 100s of rays. now each sells for 100k on high pop realms.
and guess what, no rollbacks, no removal of items, no turning into grey with text ‘‘oops dont cheat next time fish’’
If you just need this kind of mount model, you can ez get this one within 20-30 mins from Darkmoon Faire. Just fish up in open water if you have high fishing skill or fish in the pools around the island. Very easy and fast to get from the vendor.
But… what if I want the achievement too.
Then do the Drustvar thing 
I dont have this one. I dont know how long you should farm it.
But maybe Ill go after it :D Thanks for sharing this fishing mount for me. I never heard of it before. Ill try to catch it tomorrow.

I wanted a starting budget and just kept fishing till i got it.
I fished in Drustvar and got it after approximately 2100 attempts.
Sold it for 95k iirc.
In case you want to know the exact spot, it was on the rock next to the sunken ship. Near the flightmaster.

Maybe a bit of a reach here, but are you sure you’re fishing on a proper spot?
I use Rarity, and it counts all my attempts so I guess yes.

At least I’m getting a lot of fish which can be sold for gold in the AH.
I kinda stop collecting mounts bcoz it’s not satisfying any more.
It’s easy to farm raw gold then just buy straight from AH which isn’t feel right.
Some selling communities controlling mounts like tlpd etc.
Overwhelming amounts of mounts to collect per patch. Sometimes you have to do contents to get mount which you don’t like.
I know your pain Tecky. I’m still fishing for the Ray, as well as for the dalaran rat and the ironforge fish. Let’s hope they won’t add any rare fish/mount in the Shadowlands.
I got it to drop post nerf while I was trying to get the Compressed ocean toy. It dropped from a bubble I had to click.

I have one spare I fished at the start of the expansion. Not sure if the achievement is for fishing it, or just owning it. Fished both I got in Nazmir - just behind the Bwonsamdi temple.
Ya, that’s what happens after you collect the 500th recolour of the same model. Blizzard seriously needs to consider quality over quantity.
