Because it doesn’t mention weapon dmg in description for heart strike and death strike.

I would think that weapon damage affects your auto attack a lot and so even when your abilities do not take their damage directly from weapon damage, it is still best practice to have as high a number as you can.

all of our attacks are garbage so the most dps you would get from your weapon is from the weapon damage.

All spells and abilities scale with Weapon damage. It is by far the highest source of damage increase on most melee classes.

BFA changed the formula for spells and abilities, so there was no longer only “weapon damage” and “attack power” scaling abilities.
