Does WoW have an end?

I wish there was a way for me to “finish WoW” by playing a singleplayer campaign inside WoW (which could be a feature) and assign specific roles to all of my alts. And I don’t mind them (or even my “main”) perma-dying for the sake of proper story telling.

I am sick of this never-ending m@strubation which leads nowhere. Brainless grind and grind where the story just seems like a vastigial, superfluous element.

In other words: If I could sacrifice all of my characters to get some sort of proper closure of this entire story, I would do that in a heartbeat.

However, the idea that every evil you defeat will just come back in a different form in a new expansion is just demotivating.

I understand wanting to play this game for the rest of your days if you have cancer, if you are an amputee, have no physical possibility to go outside… but seriously - this never-ending grind is just too much imo. Especially if you would like to experience a meaningful story without all the silly MMO elements.

But now that I think about the current state of WoW, I wouldn’t even want thát. From down to earth fantasy with orcs vs humans, swords vs magic… and now - robots, rockets, machines, aliens, spaceships, sci-fi gadget… it’s not even “Warcraft” anymore.

It’s like with The Matrix - just enjoy the first movie and ignore the sequels.

it’s pretty likely that somone else will take it over if Blizz finish with it should they allow it, older games like Phantasy Star Online and Neverwinter Nights still have devoted players…
as far as the story goes, they like to carry it over into the next expac now, makes it harder to put it down.
i think it still has a lot to offer so i can see it getting a real shakeup one day if it gets too stagnant…like Crystal Dynamics did with Lara…

Isn’t it being replaced by something similar?

I’m sorry there is no end becouse no end on honor lvls

It ends when you get bored and leave.

I don’t know how random are corruption items but you won’t be able to wear like 2 of them anyway.

In a sense you can complete the game by doing absolutely everything it has to offer, but that is inhumane amount of work.

Just like you listed consider:

  • getting BiS gear on all of your specs
  • getting all of the achievements in game (this alone means you need to be Mythic raider and Gladiator PvP-er)
  • getting all of the mounts, pets, and transmog gear available
  • completing all of the quests in the game

and then doing that for all of the 12 classes on both factions

Then you could argue that you could also do every race of every class, but that seems excessively redundant considering all of the work already on the table. But if you want more then there are things like the Iron Man challenge or taking a crack at speed running the leveling process and I’m sure there are other things like that that aren’t defined by in-game achievements.

For me finishing the game is when you dont have yellow* quests anymore~ and I finished it till new patch with content or expansion will arrive (two weeks till 8.3). Raids, Dungeons, PvP~ its all repeatable content and mounts with pets are as much worth collecting as steam cards.

Most important is main story and non-repeatable side quests just like in any RPG game :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

(Loremaster Achievement FTW)

WoW ends when the story ends, that’s always been one of the draws of the game for me, the fact that im not just dumping tons of effort, making memories, and having fun in a world that would just end full stop once the final boss is down.

The end would probably be you being rehabilitated and acquiring a life.

But its usually temporary until you renew your subscription.

So no, there is no end

That is 100% true!

WoW won’t go anywhere the next few decades. Truth is, the earn so much money from it that it will sustain itself for a very long time.

Discipline priests surely ended after Mop.

Stop paying money and for you WoW will end

I like to think it will end with my character riding into the sunset on another adventure!
in other words it wont end…kinda like Quantum Leap.

(yup, when they pull the plug I fully plan on implementing headcannon ftw! Its what all us RP server inhabitants do!)

I think we all will simply switch to pServers - and because of that it is very likely they will never stop offering WoW ever, like how they do it with D1 and so on.
