After 17 years of playing wow i have decided to leave. I love the game itself, but the people… they are not nice or understanding. I have mental difficulties and it has been so hard to feel accepted for who i am. The bullying, namecalling, emotional abuse, rejections… i cant do it anymore.
I have some gold. My question is, is it safe to donate gold to someone through in game mail? I dont know the person i want to donate to, i just know he helps people with autism and i want to support that.
I think i read somewhere blizz banned someone for giving or recieving a lot of gold, thinking it was a scam. I dont know if im wrong, thats why im asking here. Is it safe?
There is absolutely nothing against giving someone all of your gold as long as your account has never been associated with anything bot behaviour like farming, trading or otherwise.
Thats sad to read. Unfortunately this game has invited a lot of people who enjoy this and know they will get away with this since costumer support doesn’t even exist anymore. I was just briefly reading into it but apparantly you can contact a lawyer and he can push blizzard to ban said people. Was wondering why no one ever thought about it and just quits.
You can write a letter mentioning its a farewell gift because you admire his support of autistic people. You could also buy a bunch of pets/mounts he doesnt have according to his simple armory to be safe.
Whenever I decided to take longer breaks from the game in the past, I’d simply go to Stormwind, look for new players, make sure they weren’t bots, and give them my gold. It means a lot to them and I think it sets a good example of how we should treat each other in-game: be helpful and supportive whenever we can.
I agree with this and totally disagree with giving away gold to random stranger you never know what they end up doing with it. Surely there must be at least one person you were friendly with in game and perhaps offer this to them instead.
Then again sometimes taking a year break from the game can also be really good for a person and when you come back you may have a different mindset. So just keep it.
I’d also say keep it unless you’re getting your account deleted forever and ever - which I wouldn’t recommend either in hindsight unless there are some severe addiction issues or something like that.
I gave away all my gold a bunch of times and it would’ve been nicer to come back to it every time I returned to the game ^^
Don’t forget nowadays the game is very playable solo too and labyrinths are just around the corner.

I don’t think there’s anything against giving away gold…unsure if it’s an issue for block-amounts of gold, or batch-sending gold.
The world is full of unpleasant people who project or take out their issues onto others. It can be mentally exhausting to endure. If you are going to leave the game because of others, make sure you find something positive to go to (whether it’s another game, hobby, etc.) otherwise you’re being driven away by others and the only one who suffers as a result is you.
I will ask you another question - are you sure you want to give away gold instead of taking a break?
You must remember, that while your experience is unfortunate, it is not written in stone, that always is or will be the case. After all you played 17 years. Not a week, or a month or a year. 17 years.
Perhaps it would be better to consider taking a break, then give away gold and return after some time and realise now you are starting from square one in terms of gold.
There is none .when I started the game and guide in Newcomer chat they gave me 100k gold to start off my journey.
Only problem occurs if it is illegal gold . In this case it is op giving the gold so there will be no risk as they themselves know the status of their gold .
I wouldn’t give away gold, did that at one point many years ago.. not to a person but a guild that I was in and liked, many years later I came back and I was poor, that sucked. I thought that I finally quit.. but nope, blizz decided to “kill” D3 so came back to WoW xD
Although i wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment that people shouldn’t be bullied away, i would like to state the following.
Who in his / her right mind would spend an exorbitant amount of money on a lawyer to ‘force’ Blizzard to ban a person in World of Warcraft?
I don’t know about where you live, but over here a decent lawyer sets you back for at least € 250,- an hour?
It’s not like in the current situation Blizzard could actually use an LLM to see if someone getting hammered with swearing or abusive behaviour and forward this to an actual human for further investigation.
Though i do agree they’re probably barely existant anymore, because why pay people for actual support when you can pocket more money for investors right?
Lots of people advising the OP not to give away their gold. Whilst their comments are definitely understandable, I think there’s something quite liberating about giving away your gold. Spread a bit of positivity in the game when they’ve experienced the worst of the game.
If you choose to return, let it be a fresh start! Rediscover the game, earn your money back.
The OP says they have “some gold”. It doesn’t mean they’re giving away millions.

No, seriously; don’t give anyone your gold in case you want it later.
Some times are bad, I feel you on that.
I’m a sensitive person and what I’ve done, recently, is to stop coffee and it has helped me a lot. The coffee pushes up the heart rate and it affects me greatly. I didn’t really understand how much until I stopped and felt better.
Things like that may affect you more than you think, be wary.

Because why would you pour IRL money into getting someone banned on a game is probably the worst finacial thing you could ever do.
Also the block button exists people just seem completely incapable of using it and this post is proof of that, Also people don’t need to condone stuff because said person has autism, theirs sadly only half a story here.
Though shame for the OP they’re an adult and should know how the report / blocking function works by now and I would suggest they use it instead of quitting the game, another good option is changing server / changing name also for a clean slate.
