Don't use compressed air to clean your PC!

Last night there was a thread where that guy recommended to clean your pc with Compressed air. My computer badly needed to be cleaned, so I took note of the advice and then dragged my machine down to our local gas station, where it was no problem to borrow the compressed air gun. I then sprayed air into all the holes and inside the pc, my computer became really nice and clean as if it was just brand new. Now I have come home and I can not start my computer. I noticed that several wings was missing and my cooler seemed damage. Some of my components have lost their insulation. My PC got destroyed by using compressed air.
What should I do?

I have used compressed air to clean my pc and nothing happened other than it getting clean. I think that you have to go slow and spray gentle so nothing breaks. I don’t know how to fix it though other than buying a new pc or send it in to a local pc store and see if they can locate the problem.

I love cleaning my pc with compressed air, I also use some common sense and a tad of my brain.

I think the problem here was the intensity of the compressed air used.

I used to clean my old pc, (a couple of years ago, a pentium 4 with 2.00 GHZ processor) with compressed air. But I used spray cans I bought in a PC store.

The equipment you used from the gas station it was just too strong.
No wonder some components got damaged.

As Willzzon stated, your best decision is to take it to a PC store and ask for a advice on what needs to be repaired/replaced.

Cheers.

That guy meant compressed air you can buy for use at home maybe ?
I use them and its going perfect

Yes it is i love it too

I so wanted this story to end with “after I had blown my PC 500 yards down the street after I tried to speed up the process after getting yelled at by a guy behind me wanting to put air in his tires I then saw my hands were dirty so I washed them with the 4000 psi pressure washer…”

Are you serious? Those things at a gas station are meant for the wheels for cars and so forth. When people talk about cleaning computer with compressed air, they mean spray cans.

Use cans of Air with a noozle designed for this purpose. Not an Air Compressor tool designed for filling car tyres.
It’s like seeing instructions “Use a damp cloth” and you throw it into the ocean and wonder why it’s no longer working.

I don’t mean to laugh (if it even really happened) but how can you not notice the air current being strong enough to blow things to pieces :joy: There isnt really anything you can do, doubt it warranty applies if you still had it.

Time to spend some cash :moneybag:

For PC cleaning you want the little cans with the thin nozzle thingy.
