DPS Warrior's viability in M+

Hello fellow Warrior’s and hopefully Blizzard employees.

I don’t even know where to begin… But I’m getting sick of feeling anxious about my favorite class in the game that I have the most played days/hours on since the original Burning Crusade expansion. I’m tired of waiting for the attention we need, the copium that DPS warriors will bring something attractive to a Mythic + dungeon team other than damage, and now it’s starting to look like it won’t even be damage anymore. I buy that Fury Warrior’s might’ve been a little overtuned to begin with in The War Within but from reading the latest changes coming to DPS warriors soon, it’s like you - Blizzard - are trying to nerf Fury even more but Arms are catching stray nerfs from it when we clearly need help.

I’m playing both specs in +10 and +11 keys currently.
What Fury/Arms warriors currently bring to a mythic + dungeon team is:

  • Battle Shout - 5% Attack Power Buff.
  • Shockwave & Storm Bolt - Two relatively good stuns on moderate cooldown.
  • Intimidating Shout - AoE stop that basically just resets enemies casts.
  • Rallying Cry - 10% maximum health for 10 seconds to party.
  • Berserker Shout/Piercing Howl - AoE Removal of Fear / AoE slow for 8 seconds.

Damage: Even if Fury Warrior’s short burst damage is on top, the overall damage throughout the dungeon is not significant, I get beaten by other classes and the single target damage of Fury is nothing special. Arms have a good sustained AoE and quite good single target but we overall fall behind other classes in the long run as well.

THIS MEANS - That the fact that we don’t have a significant damage profile - our damage doesn’t outweigh the attractiveness of bringing, say, Retribution Paladin or DPS Death Knights instead of us. Both those classes have combat resurrection, they both end ahead on the overall damage done in a dungeon because of their better damage profile especially in AoE - Death Knights also brings grips which are extremely good in keys and party anti magic shell while Retribution bring Immunity, Blessing of Protection, Blessing of Freedom and has longer melee range which means they can always hit the target even if melee have to run away from target because of dangerous mob/boss abilities. At this point in time, rallying cry doesn’t really help either because in high keys that 10% more health won’t save anyone or at least extremely rarely. We don’t outperform other melee classes such as enhancement shamans, rogues or demon hunters either.

It’s getting very difficult for me to justify playing a warrior in mythic + dungeons when the general view of warrior is: “Oh don’t mind them if you invite them, they run around doing their own thing hopefully dealing good damage, but don’t expect any help”.
I love the feel and playstyle of Arms Warrior even though it can be made better but right now, people feel like they are sacrificing a spot in the team for someone who just enjoys a class but doesn’t bring anything vital to the team when they COULD’VE had a combat res and grips or shroud or bloodlust etc. We’ve been that dps class for too long Blizzard. It’s time you did something about it.

I’d like to add to this, to say I shouldn’t need to basically pick between arms or fury every season / every expansion. Both should be individually tuned and both just as strong as each other (the same with other classes, across the board).

How many times over the last 8/9 seasons have you genuinely had arms and fury on par with each other, equally competitive. Most warriors you see tend to go "so we arms this season? “so we fury this season?” etc.

Thank god someone made this post, im seeing nerf after nerf for fury, but its the same damn abilities we use in arms. So a weaker class spec is getting weaker yet again.

Bit offtopic tho, i hope one day blizzard will remove dual wield 2h weapons, or they add a greater twohander, so arms can have propper amount of stats compared to fury >.<

Arms changing its last name to Mage so they can catch stray buffs instead of nerfs.

Greetings! I am an Arms Mage! :man_mage:

I feel the same , im trying out colossus the aoe burst is really good , single target is ok ,

How to fix arms :
Slam effect should be inside of cleave , ( slam removed from game ) cleave slams always your primary target … another problem is colossus smash on single target or aoe choice versions … rework this , it should be removed and the 3 sec bonus talent should be for the aoe version , do this and arms warrior will be good .

I’m gonna bump this post to also add that I’ve been noticing how low my stamina is as an Arms warrior compared to other dps classes SUCH AS dps death knight once again…
They have their talent “Veteran of the Third War” that is a 1 point talent on their top rows that increases their stamina by 20% !

What about Warrior?

Well why not place a 2 point talent for 5% stamina each at the most bottom row so we need to sacrifice a good amount of damage to gain just half of the stamina Death Knights get. Why Blizzard? Explain to me why? Is arms more tankier than a Frost Death knight? In what way? Do you think it’s a fun playstyle to have to sit in defensive stance to survive in high keys all the time, once again sacrificing damage to survive? Does it even help that we are writing constructive criticism here?

Well a solution to this would be to swap place of the “Pain and Gain” talent with “Endurance Training” and make “ET” a one point talent please.

You are so cute thinking 2x5 % stamina gonna save the class .
Arms has always been the less tanky brother , while having pretty much nothing over fury kek
