Dracthyr Class Restrictions to be Removed in The War Within Interview Excerpt

“There are some races, for example, it’s very hard to imagine being druids.”

No Ian… It’s not very difficult to image those races as druid.

At least they’re working on making Evokers able to be in human form in combat. Shame it won’t be implemented very soon though.

Still waiting for it for Worgen.

Can’t let people fight with those stereotypical brittish voices now can we?

This is old news isn’t it?

One day old interview.

No, this has been known for a long while.

The only new thing in this video is that it won’t happen at launch.

I think most people were expecting it to have already happened.

That’s not what he said. He said that they are working on the other Classes being able to be played in visage form.

Yes. He has. He said they’re working on Evoker and visage form in combat. Outside of the abilities that transform they’re working on allowing them full visage in combat.

I think that an such race restriction it was an mistake. I never was interested with the evoker, but i like the dragon race.

The video may be only one day old but it says in the description which shows in your OP :

In a new video, MrGM has shared Game Director Ion Hazzikostas' exact words from a group interview last April

it´s tough to imagine those races as druid.

though the dragon race could have a special transformation where they could turn into dragons for a special attack.

pets the doggo

However, parts of that group interview along with the 2nd statement about not having looked at expanding the last few classes, is new.

That’s when you get creative. Like gnome druid forms could simply be mechs they rode. Goblins too, though alternatively why not some alchemical monstrosities instead.

Also why they should have opted for class skins since it broadens the scope for classes (a scope already wide for npc’s) without burdening the class designers too much.

No he said in the video, that they would like the new classes to be able to play in Visage form. He didn’t directly say that Evoker wouldn’t be able, however it was heavily implied by the other things he said around it.

He also made alot of comments on how certain classes were not going to be added to certain races, such as Druids for Mechagnomes because they don’t make sense. Just like an Evoker using Evoker abilities outside of Dragon form wouldn’t make sense.

WE’ve known Dracthyr are getting new Classes for much longer than that though. Last year at least. It’s been mentioned loads of times.

As I said previously. I think the biggest shock is that we are still waiting, not that it is coming.

The shock… or to say disappointment is that they suddenly went full stop on removing more class/race restrictions, due to ultimately meaningless issues.

I’m glad they did actually. It actually sounds like they listened to players concerns.

Whilst to you, the reasons for the restrictions might be meaningless. For other people the restrictions actually add value to the game.

If you keep breaking down walls, people will keep asking for new walls to be broken. All of a sudden you’re left with a circus.

How would that be druidism tho? druidism is about nature and natural things, even balance magic comes from the sun, stars and moons.

Class skins would be a good fix, call it a transformer if you want, but imo before class skins can make sense of it I’d rather not have nonsensible class/race combos like mechagnome druid or void elf paladin, yes the lore has taken hits here and there with some existing class/race combos already but thats no reason to keep punching at it

Ultimately its up to blizzard ofcourse.

Those people are really not the ones you should listen too.

Blizzard over the years have not put any actual effort into why class restrictions exists. Unlike to say warhammer where falling out of the norm means certain death.

Blizzard have also thrown class/race combinations at us from npc’s that aren’t or weren’t available to players. Like Tempest keep has both shaman and druid belves. Scarlet Crusade got undead paladins. BFA had a settlement of zandalari warlocks, yet it wasn’t until recently players could chose it.

The reality is much like race/faction restrictions, those walls only exists as game mechanic for players, but is otherwise nowhere else in the actual game.
