Hello. Let me pre-face this by expressing my thanks to Blizzard for creating this race. As a fan of all things dragon and dragonborn in particular, the inclusion of Warcraft iteration on dragonborn was one of the main reasons for me to return to the game when I got the chance. Ironically it happened at the very end of dragon expansion, but oh well.
Secondly, I know there were topics like this, but still I feel compelled to also whine a bit.
Given that… dracthyr lore is fine, animations are great, overall appearance is okay, but there are certain design decisions I find plain bizzare and can’t think of any reasonings behind them.
why are they so misshaped in the true form? This one is a biggest one. Looking at the art both concept and in-game, dracthyr are tall, slender, agile, they have good proportions. I find the idea of them being sexless androgynous beings kinda cool (although how do they actually reproduce?). But why in the game their legs are so massive? Their heads so small? Why sizes of these body parts do not change with the torso and arms?? Just why? You had great concepts, but botched them real hard, as if on purpose. Those small heads are borderline comical.
is there any rational reason, why they don’t have armor visuals? Like, any at all reason?? It can’t be due to technical difficulties, I can understand helmet and boots, but chest? Hands? Legs even? There’s literally no reason for not having visuals for those. We have races with more difficult models for those body parts, and they are just fine. And why colors for appearance armors are so ugly? This just doesn’t make sense to me
this one is personal, but visage is bad. Customisation options are good, but reskinning blood elves and humans is just cheap, allied race level crap. You could at least given them new idle animations, belf male standing almost triggers me how ugly and stupid it is
at least we will get more class options, thanks for that bone. I still enjoy playing dracthyr and plan to main it going into TWW, but these three things are irritating and non-sensical to me. Thanks for reading my wall of text this far and have a nice day.
They don’t reproduce, they are produced. They need to look a bit tarded for they are literally an experiment. No new drakthyr are created (afaik), they were woken up form stasis.
Haven’t been in Aberrus yet, so don’t know specifics from there. But how Neltharion was planning to replenish his forces?
As for looking a bit tarded, sure But we have concept arts and in-game graphic “cinematics” where they look lot more dignified
I agree that the cinematic art version in the warbringer style video looked alot more dignified. Like a real soldier of the black dragon Aspect, with good proportions that make them look elegant, strong and intelligent.
Whereas ingame it looks much more like a deviantart furry art style base they went with. I think they did a great job on the new female worgen, it’s a shame they couldn’t strike the same aesthetically pleasing balance with the Dracthyr as well.
Yeah, you have expressed my thoughts exactly, using a lot less words. I have slight, slight hope the visuals will be adjusted in the future. But probably not
-The running animation is abysmall, its janky and seems to be unfinished.
-The clothing options. There should be better options for under armor. Just add texture that shows simple leather styled armor and boom. Hell I can do this in one week!
-The feet, my god why does every WoW animal race have shovel feet!
-The neck, too damn long and the options to make it look buffer is just lacking
-Gear, yes give the whole armor option to be mogged. And if someone says “oh noo the clipping!” yea there is trump ton of clipping happening on every race and Blizzard gives rats trump about stuff like that
