I for one am really excited about the Dracthyr, I even like their current lanky design! But, I also really enjoy transmogrification and I just do not understand why they would be unable to wear normal armor? From what we currently know, they will be able to wear shoulders, tabards and belts, but it is unclear if those are normal transmogable pieces or barbershop customization.
What about the Dracthyr’s dragon form prevents them from wearing armor like all the other races? Tauren, Draenei and Vulpera all have unusually shaped heads and/or legs but manage to wear armor just fine, even if it is a little janky in places. The only issue would be the wings sticking out of the back, but Forsaken had no problem with having a spine sticking out of every chest piece and cloak, and that was all the way back in vanilla.
Even if clipping turns out to be unavoidable in this situation, there is already an embarrassing amount of it everywhere else in the game, and we would always have the option to hide the chest piece out of our own volition anyway.
At the ABSOLUTE WORST, Dracthyr might be unable to wear visible chest pieces, maybe not even cloaks, but there is no valid reason why they would not be able to wear gloves, pants and boots.
It’d be perfectly acceptable to me though. They got dragon scales as armor and they are proud dragons for crying out loud. I think it’s way more badass this way if it sticks.
If that is your preference, you’d still have the option to hide your armor even if Dracthyr were able to transmogrify.
“They got dragon scales as armor” could be the same excuse Blizzard used for Mechagnomes being unable to wear most armor pieces, and that turned out to be a big reason why people dislike them so much.
I agree. As much as I like Dragon Armor in games… The Drac’thyr don’t really need one. Also, I don’t think it would be a good idea right now in development to create/alternate every Mail Armor in the game just to fit the Drac’thyr body form.
Sure you are right about that, but then who’s to say other people’s immersion isn’t ruined by an armor wearing half-dragon?
Anyway - I just found your original post very hyperbole and had to react to that. It is a public forum afterall…
And I personally dislike Mechagnomes because they look like clowns with a diaper and are half-robots and therefor weird and odd and took the place of a way more cool race (any)!
That’s the thing though, Dracthyr are the equivalent of a Worgen’s default form, not of a druid form. It just feels like Blizzard isn’t planning to be up to their own standards.
