Dracthyr powers

Great thinkers of Argent Dawn, I summoned you today to ask you a question about Dracthyr.

If my understanding is correct, Dracthyr are soldiers who are capable of wielding the powers of each of the Dragonflight. With Evokers being an exception capable of wielding powers of all Dragonflights.

How does that work, when it comes to blue dragonflight powers? If my lore is correct their power is an arcane. Basically being mages power fantasy. Would Dracthyr be capable of same magical control as blue dragons? Would they basically be mages with extra steps?

I am figuring out new concept for character. Basically Dracthyr with powers of the blue, who since he was meant to be a soldier knows only offensive use for magic, and now wants to learn other more utility ways, like regular mages. Could that work? Or am I back to the writing board?

I don’t see why not.
they are empowered by the essence of each flight and I like to think all dragons use arcane /order magic since they are titan re-made.

Would a single dracthyr, evoker or otherwise be just as capable as a fully fledge blue dragon? probably not, but they wield their magic, or should I say they invoke their magic just the same.

I think the concept sounds very nice and you should go for it.

As for the powers, i imagine their powers being the raw powers they can tap into like dragons. This would be different from lets say mages and druids who learn through training and the end result would be more “refine” ways how to use arcane or nature.

A dracthyr would use it as a second nature to them. I think there would be difference between the innate power, how it is accessed and the end result with Dracthyr going more instinctive way than mages who are studying for years from books and in schools.

Personally I go with some mix of normal characater abilities + dragon abilities we were showed in the game/books and tone it down because I don’t think Dracthyr are as powerful as dragons. (This for the potential abilities we are not really given in the game skill set).

Thanks for the answers! I will roll with the concept then and do some mix between regular mage and dragon spells, and figure out the power level slowly!

No. They have powers of all five flights but they are not as powerful as dragons themselves. You can make a Dracthyr who is a mage, though.

Evokers are the only class you can play as out of character, but they are described as being the best of the best in the Dracthyr and quite rare, and there are Dracthyr who aren’t evokers, such as how the Sundered Flame / Ebon Scales are/were mostly arcanists.

You can make an evoker that’s delving more into the Arcane and learning about it like mortals do, after all, about 20k years of intense magical advancement that even dragons have been learning from to the point that the Blue Dragonflight got bested by a city of mortal mages have taken place; but you would have to make a story arc about it and not just a thing your character knows.

There’s the question of why your character went through all that work to become an actual full-on evoker and then decided to become a mage, there’s the whole thing about your character learning it rather than your character just knowing it like the back of their hand alongside having all evoker powers on top of it…

It’s really just a matter of how you approach it, and keeping in mind that every evoker is a Dracthyr, but not every Dracthyr is an evoker.
