only real answer
Depends from the colour. If it’s green or bronze, it’ll be Alliance. Blue would rather go to the Horde with its arcane-based elven folks. Red or (my wish) black would probably be neutral as possible.
Zaphius already posted it above, but again: Scale color of dracthyr is not connected to specific flights. You can be red dracthyr focusing on magic or black dracthyr who is all about healing others through magic of Red dragonflight. It´s also why there are purple, white or gray dracthyr, their color is random and doesn´t determine powers or personality.
I don’t care! My Drak’thyr will be bronze and be called Amberthel/Amberdormu And he will be a friend to the bronze!
Just you wait for their starting zone to become available on Alpha. We´ll learn that the most common dracthyr name is Steve.
It’s actually Brian.
But as far as scales and so forth go, if we as players want to RP our dracthyr as being closer to a flight of the same colour and focusing on their abilities, we can.
But we are free to choose! FREEDOM!
Indeed! But we must also remember that the dracthyr also have access to purple and white scale colours as well. Considering I doubt they will be Twilight and Albino Dragonflights, they will be the most unique to portray.
Given how much of the marketing around dracthyr is about player expression and creativity it wouldn’t be weird to write lore such that individuals make up their own names but then they’d get in trouble for appropriating honoured orc clan names or nobility of others.
And the Horde’s history with the Reds, espeically a certain Queen will make same Dracthyr very cold toward the fel-green aliens (from a planet what they destroyed) and enslaved the Queen… used dragons as mounts and weapons of war…
Okay, green… .thing, what are you?
Well, I’m an Orc
You are some new addition, like those pale Elves? Last time I checked they were purple… ish and had an empire
Well no… not really, you see its all started when we invaded the planet and
You did what?
It wasn’t OUR fault! We sold our soul to Sargeras and
YOU DID WHAT???
Calm down, we lost the war that costed our planet… anyhow, we tried to rebuild and used this artefact of Deathwing to…
YOU… DID… WHAT???
…shees… so used that to enslave the Dragon Queen while one of our clans trained to be dragon riders to…
THATS IT!!! BURN!!!
The dracthyr don’t even know who alexstraza is, nor are they dragons, I don’t think they care a whole lot or are even aware of this history
Last time the dracthyr checked they never even left their little island and got locked up there for ages
Probably Horde. Because Horde feels comfy to me.
Another char for my group of suspiciously shady looking healers.
It will depend a great deal on on the dracthyr lore, but I lean towards Horde by default.
Probably Alliance because that’s where most of my friends and communities are. I think it’s kinda silly that dracthyr need to even join a faction. I get it from a game technical perspective - I don’t think the game is ready for a factionless race, but just like with the pandaren, I feel like joining one of the two dominant mega-empires who are either in open war or cold war with one another makes little sense.
I’m glad the faction Dracthyr ARE indeed divided into actual separate tribes/clans/subfactions, just like the Huojin and the Tushui. I’ll roll a Dark Talon of course. I think they might fit perfectly into the Horde actually
Especially if you consider those “mega empires” are either the Alliance: Night Elven survivors, after a geonocide, Human survivors, gnome survivors after their own little Chernobil meets Resident Evil, Draenei survivors after several Genocide, Worgen after a Gilnean genocide a handfull of Lightforged, and a city full of mechagnomes, and even less Void elves and to be honest the Dwarves are in the beast shape among the member races… and maybe the Kul Tirans who - if we want to be honest - could eat the Alliance whole, since they basically flew under the radar during the wars
Or the Horde: Tauren survivors who almost went extinct thanks to the Centaur, few shipfull of Orc survivors, a few shipfull of goblins who tagged along, a god know how many undead, the Elven survivors of their own little genocide, survivors of the Darkspear who tagged along the Orcs, a city state full of Nightborn recovering from addiction and a caravan worth of Vulpera. Maybe the Nightborne are in the best shape among these.
And of curse after several 'the world gonna end" scenarios…
Its a minor miracle, the armies of these factions are more than a houndred soldiers!
I’m not counting the Pandaren since the Pandaren of Pandaria acually neutral, only a few joined from the back of the Turtle, not mainlanders and not many…
And the Zandalari Emprie is an allied nation not “member” per see, Talanji was very clear, they are equal to the Horde not part or subservient…
So… yeah, it makes no sense the Dracthyr have any reason to join these two
But its a two faction game so… lets not poke this too much
Speaking of, it’s a little bit annoying how close this name is to Blacktalons, which is Wrathion’s faction.
Maybe I’ll be a Dark Talon Blacktalon. Extra edgy.
Pretty sure they became actual members at the end of the Book, no?
Yep. The “Allied but not full-fledged members” thing corresponds to their status prior to the Widow’s Bite events depicted in Shadows Rising
I’m gonna go alliance on mine! I’m also gonna make her dracthyr form look just like Onyxia, for the irony.
Alliance because it’s the better faction + also isn’t buddies with the dudes who literally make their houses and clothes out of dragonhide
