Draenei lore questions - events timeline and such

Hello there! (cough cough General Kenobi.)

So I have been preparing myself for some RP fun and encountered a small problem. That is the cannon lore around Draenei seems to be quite the hard nut to crack. Here are a few questions that I am looking for the answers for.

  1. They fled Argus around 25.000 years ago. They spent an unspecified period of time traveling through the Twisting Nether to finally settle on Draenor. How long did the Draenei spend there? Some quest lines during BC would suggest at least 2.000 years, some forums posts I saw and a couple wiki pages suggest 500 or 200 as the time period. But it doesn’t add up with my second point, that being…

  2. Draenei age approximately 30-40 times slower than Humans do. That is based on a quote from a book I did not read, but it has been repeated throughout a couple of lore sources so I assume it’s valid. If the Draenei arrived on Draenor less than a 1.000 years ago, they had no chance to even slightly repopulate the world. As I assume there would be some serious population restrictions during their trip, resources being limited and all that.

  3. That being said, did every Draenei flee with the Exodar? We know for a fact, that at least some part of them abandoned the teachings of the light and bekame the Broken Ones, following the Elements. Shattrath is said to be razed and looted. But we know, that the surviving Draenei escape to the marshes to hide and only a bit later attempt to escape with the Exodar. But I couldn’t find a solid cannon source stating, if all escaped or some stayed behind.

  4. More to come later!

Not my area of expertise, but some things I wanna say:

The Broken ones did not abandon the teachings of the Light, it abandoned them.

And not every Draenei fled on the Exodar apparently, as we have the Aldor where they were, and other scattered examples of Draenei through Outland.

was it not the red mist that made them loose the connection to the light.

Yeah, they lost their connection, not their faith. Nobundo was clinging to it without being able to use it.

Thanks for the replies. Did some digging myself with another player and aparently the new “official” period of time the Draenei spent on Draenor is 200 years give or take a few. Which kind of contradicts some of the dialogue lines I encountered during Burning Crusade quests, at least those few I did do. So I assume it was a victim to a massive retcon.

PS:
Sooo… Here is what I have so far.
-25000: corruption of Kil’jaeden, Archimonde and Eredar by Sargeras, Velen flees onboard the Genedar
-200: crash landing on Draenor
-45: Kil’jaeden finds Draenor
-10: Gul’dan becomes Kil’jaeden’s warlock
-8: Gul’dan incites orcs to launch attacks on Draenei caravans
-7: hostilities between Orcs and Draenei slowly escalate
-4: Orcs start to assault minor settlements
-3: Orcs assault and take Shattrath with the help of the Red Mist
6: Dark Portal is destroyed by Khadgar
8: Dark Portal is reopened by Ner’Zhul, he uses the Staff of Sargeras, Eye of Dalaran and Book of Medivh to open numerous portals in Draenor, leading to the destruction of the world, Khadgar once more closes the Dark Portal
26: Velen leads an assault to liberate Exodar and flees on the ship, Horde and Alliance arrive in Outland to fight the Legion,
27: WotLK
28: Cata
30: MoP
31: WoD, Dark Portal from the alternate timeline is connected to the one from our
~32: Legion
33: Battle for Azeroth

So according to this… Between current time and the arrival on Draenor, some 233 years have passed. Which means every Draenei we RP or play would be born on the Genedar, or Argus itself. It also leaves a tiny period of a bit less than 30 years for the Aldor to resettle in Shattrath, Naaru to arrive, Blood Elves to attack and become the Scryers… Because it all happens between the sacking of the city in -3 and the escape on Exodar in 26. That sounds to be a bit of a… Small amount of time for all those events.
