Dragon Customization options are SEVERLY lacking so far

There seems to be huge lack of customization options for the Dragonflying drakes AND the reward system is very flawed.

  • General stuff (like colors) should be accessible much earlier on… Renown 20+ is way too much… Reputation is mostly time gated and lot of players will get stuck with no option to change color for ages… while I think it’s okay to have rewards that you get to unlock later on, this should be semi-prestigious, like armor, special saddle, special type of horns or some cool wings accessories or something… not something general like color
  • lot of interesting, even datamined stuff, is missing… like Face Armor (Helm)… there seems to be none… why? Or White Scales (Color) for Highland Drake… where is it?

As it stands now, almost every player’s drake is unrecognizable from other player’s drake. They look too similar. Sure you can do some stuff and try to hunt out as much customization option to differentiate… but most of those are hardly noticable. It’s good to have these options, but it’s very bad that it’s hard to unlock hard-to-notice stuff and have basically none noticable stuff.

Also Gladiator (PvP) drake version seems (so far) to not have options to edit anything… will it be so? No color changes, no helm changes, nothing? Can’t we customize it at all? That would be sad. I don’t like the helm on that Drake and would be cool to be able to change that.

I do agree more could have been implemented for customisation here, and I believe Blizzard have missed a trick…

If they wish to prolong the relevance of a gliding mount then customisation needs to be very much a growing concern, because at present everyone seems to be riding the same drakes.

Why can’t we use colour wheels to pick colours for all options for instance, even that would have made a massive difference to the level of creative customisation achieved.

And please, let us finally name our mounts, the ability must be there in code because I can name my Hunter and Battle pets, let me name my mounts and at least the Dragon I’m riding???

At the moment we can’t change color at all. Every single player I met is flying the same colored dragon. That’s a huge miss.
And I do agree, there should be, if not color palette, at least much more options. Sure, lore wise, there are 5 colors… but…

  • they can add different shades
  • they can have different wings color variations (like green drake can have yellow wing fin (or whatever we call it) or ut can have green, or it can have white… so many options

But the color part of the customization is huge bummer. I do like Dragonflying a lot, but as far as customization goes, it’s a colossal let down.
At first I was very happy with this, but playing for 2 days now, I see there is too little to customize and major customization are severly lacking, hard to earn, and timegated, so literally, I can’t recognize different people’s dragon and they didn’t put any personality into it (unfortunately). They couldn’t. Unlike their characters, where they choose a lot of stuff (armor, face, skin color, hairstyle, hair color…)

At this moment, the only way they could’ve made it even more annoying is, if we had to unlock eye color as well.

We don’t know what gets added in the seasons. I can totally see new Dragon Customs being drops in Patch 10.1-.2-.3-etc.

Hopefully A LOT.

Ohh I never thought of this, that’d be awesome!

This please, I would love to be able to name my drake. Dragons are afterall intelligent beings, they deserve to have a name.

Technically there are 7. Sure Twilight and Infinite are considered the bad guys and we don’t get drakes from them buut drak’thyr have a huge aray of color options and they existed before the twilights were a thing and are not associated in anyway with the infinites.

Also I think a cool feature that couls be added is to let us choose our dragons skin with option to make it into an undead or infused withe different types of magic like arcane, fel, nature etc.

I think lots of different colours and patterns would have been better and more noticeable

How is it a colossal letdown if we went from 0 Mount customisation (apart from switching mounts I guess) to the ability to customize anything at all?

Just by questing through Waking Shores I got like 10 different customisation options as rewards and as a Scribe I can create more for myself.

This is the kind of complaint that gets raised now but by the end of the expansion is a moot point because then everyone will have all the options unlocked.

This is one of the many TRP 3 features I hope we will see implemented in the game one day.

Ye the colour gated is a bit oof…the single thing that would differentiate you from most othe players is locked behind rep…

Now everyone uses the exact same mount you get first day playing and thats just lame.

Agreed, could at least have been more colors from the start to freely choose from. Even with every customization unlocked it’s not that much, there is really nothing that special or notable in their customization selection except the full transformations.

Agreed. I am grinding customizations for 2 days and whatever I do, still looks like same with other players. Color is only major differantiator in whole customization options, yet it is so hard to get. Especially if you want black scales you have to do no brain grind. And after 2 months all players will use black and red scales for highland drake. And again you will look like same with everyone.
I don’t even mention %90 percent using highland drake.

Because we went from 1000 different looking and recognizable mounts to 4 with some variations that make them still unrecognizable from the baseline model.

I do too, but realistically when you choose whether you want fin or hair behind the ear of dragon, while that is two different options, it’s hardly noticable and when you see other person who has hair instead of fin on his dragon, you probably won’t even know they changed anything on their dragon… it’s very miniscule

Exactly. Thank you.

Also armor. But the Face Armor is missing (unobtainable?) and nobody will have chest armor for ages either.

Me too. Though I hate the color. Even if I wanted blue one, this is not the blue I would go for.

I think the key point in the title here is ‘so far’.
We are still very early on and most people havent collected even a tiny amount of the customization options yet. Also Im imagining that we will probably get some more with future patches (Im still holding out hope for a noodle dragon which was an option in the beta mount tab).

I would love if they expanded on this feature and included it in future expansion so you would eventually have tons of options and a very unique mount.

Colour wheels would be perfect - however, I don’t think WoW has a shader tool implemented into their system at all.

We don’t even have a simple colour wheel shader for generic non-model changes (eg; eye & hair colour). It seems like every colour is a brand new asset, which seems so backwards.

Once (if) this changes, it would improve customisation massively.

I think that no feedback means no changes.
So I am giving feedback with hope for changes.

I’m sure there will be plenty of options in time…in the cash shop.

Strongly agree, especially regarding the color. The color is the most visible change we can make and everybody riding drakes of the same color, because of the heavy time gating behind this particular customization option, is simply lame.
