Am I the only one who wonders why dragon eggs have enormous hooks or barbs on them??
How do dragons give birth without needing an instant rez afterwards!!?
Also nature generally only puts barbs on things so they can hook onto other things to be dispersed…
so what are dragon eggs supposed to attach to and where are they being dispersed??

I wonder if Alextrasza breastfeeds her whelps.
Hmm. Food for thought.

Dragons and orcs both subscribe to the belief that a few added spikes can only make things better.

Maybe it’s like baby hedgehogs, the spikes are soft when born and only harden up after?
I’d like to think so anyway, laying a clutch of spikey eggs is going to sting

They are cruel, not benevolent like our soft, tentacled overlords

Suspect this is the case; contact with the air is what’ll harden them up.
Although it’s still going to be like laying a pineapple…
So next time your dragon mom is reminding you how much she went through to bring you into the world, believe her!

Now you know why they call it “the red dragonflight”

Actually the barbs and spikes grow on later. They’re spikeless when they birth.

Screenshot or it didn’t happen!
It is to keep the hornstriders away from the cabbage patch…
Or, as Dragons breathe fire, I guess they are fully armoured inside and out.
Makes it easier to hold them over boiling water when you cook them. That way you have something to attach to the hooks.
Or if like me you like your dragon eggs fried on a roll the hooks and barbs are just there so you can get hold of the shell without going to the expense of it breaking up when you put it in the trash you just hold it by the hook, swing it over your head 3 times and throw it into your neighbour’s back garden.
I thought the spikes come after being laid , stopped predators wanting to eat them.

I suspect the eggs are covered with soft ooze right after laying, part of internal structure to create the eggs in the first place. That’s what protects the mother.
But don’t you worry guys, when my rogue gets dating Alexstrasza I will let you know.
