Dragon RP discussion

I’m on it chief.

Those that are strong enough will be sent into the mines to serve as slaves until they collapse.

Server forum isn’t a hive mind, and not everyone posts on it. Basing your view solely on the nay sayers is unwise.
Also, looking at some of the replies here, things aren’t a bad as they once were.

The few dragon rpers I have personally roleplayed with has been atleast according to me pretty bad and used it as a kinda “dun dun dun!” thing.

But I am also aware from past threads on this topic, that there is a community for it that’s apparantly doing fine and enjoying themselves. I think for most people, the reason why this isn’t as common above the trope of “badrp dragons” is because much like myself, it might not be everyone’s interest and therefore they don’t move around in those crowds/groups.

And because of that, what you commonly see then is stories about people encountering derpy things in Stormwind.

I don’t doubt it is fun to the people who roleplay it and can also be done well, like with any kind of roleplay really, but Dragon RP always kinda struck me from reading threads about it like more secluded, so you won’t see much of it outside of a few bad wildcards in common areas where you’ll run into weird/bad roleplayers anyway.

Dragons, teen ren’dorei, human children with large breasts, male characters with large breasts… Stormwind has strange things occurring.

Don’t forget the antromorphic humans that was around in like early 2019. That was a strange phase.

I’ve seen both good and less good dragon rp’ers, but I would not count them as being worse than other bad rp’ers. Someone I regularly talk to and play with does it well I think.

As for dragons in events, aslong as they don’t try and hog all the glory it’s fine. And some events they will be better suited for than others. And if you as a DM are worried the dragon’s too strong, well, put something in then that backs -them- into a corner! Fighting a necromancer? Have him put a frostwyrm up to keep the dragon occupied!

That said though I understand where the stigma against dragon rp’ers comes from, and I probably won’t rp a dragon myself anytime soon, but I think that as with other things, give them a chance and then you can always decide later on if they’re good or not.

This server forum is pretty close to sheeps and shepherds it’s a rolling joke, opinion is so thin and bland for obvious reasons. I’d state that it seems that this post was commented on by more reasonable minds at first, thus there hasn’t been a sudden train of maymay. I furthermore believe that there are quite the handful of players that aren’t being genuine when it actually comes to their acceptance of Dragon RP.

Based on what?

Based on the inability for some players state their real opinion due to factors that might see their own status affected.

Dragon RP is unpopular, speaking in support of it would negatively affect most people’s “status”. So, seems a bit strange to say.

Aliens seem aliens to aliens.

Yet quite alot of people in this thread and others before it seem to have the attitude of “It’s like any roleplay really, but it has a stigma, but can still see it as ok.”

So there is atleast some support, which makes Galford’s point a little weird to me.

I am always weirded out when I see a kaldorei with a tail or something along those lines.

I might do some meme here but:

why would you care what some random nerds (includes me) in a random forum that has zero effect on your life think? I mean sure, unless you support criminal activity or have some really odd opinion (how do you know people are 18? “You just ask them, lol!”) then I can’t really see the issue of stating your real opinion.

I forgot to mention: there’s an entire guild currently supporting dragon roleplay, with the leader being one too (I think?? No idea!). She does a good job.

I agree with people here because, crazy as this may be, I agree with them.
But I don’t agree with everything everyone says, because I like to do my own thing and have fun.
Despite those who very loudly hate Dragons, I still have one and may RP it on occasion. Its different and fun.

Because you’re playing and dedicating time to a game hinged upon story, involvement and community. It’s only natural that players have a sense of self worth and are eager to fit in, wouldn’t you agree?
