I have played for many years and wanted to put forward a suggestion which I think would be huge improvement for most of the player base.
My suggestion is around Character and account progress.
I am trying to resolve that bad feeling you get when creating an alt. Creating an alt should be exciting and new but now it is tainted by the feeling that you are leaving too much behind on your main. I would propose the implementation of a roster/account-wide system.
Some of the changes I would be keen to see are below
All reputation progress is account wide (Highest reputation attainted on any character snapshotted and applied to account)
All Flavour items (outfits etc) bind to account
All Legacy raid gear bind to account/ Appearances for all armour and weapons collectible on any class
All currencies server-wide
An account wide level with progression rewards such as pets, mounts, and cosmetics.
All main story quests once completed are completed on all characters (players can replay these using level sync etc)
All previous character specific rewards are now account wide and apply to all classes (MOP Challenge sets, WOD Challenge weapons etc)
All collectibles are account wide (One-time treasures etc)
All secondary professions and recipes are account wide (Cooking, Fishing, Archaeology)
All quests which unlock in game features are account wide
All flight paths are account wide
In short, the only thing an Alt should have to do is level up and then begin gearing so people can play the class they want to play in that moment without feeling they are leaving something behind or anchored to an existing character.
As the game evolves so do the players and the class people want to play can change from patch to patch. This is something that should be encouraged, and player should not be punished for it.
character progress ?
you mean ACCOUNT progress. what you want is just a group of people that are all parts of a big contruct.
basically, power rangers.
punished ? if you think creating another character is punishment, dont do it.
but some people WANT fresh start.
what if i dont want to share my stuff with another character ? what if the other character belongs to my 8 years nephew ? i dont want him to mess up my character.
what if i want to be neautral with a faction or not be part of a faction war ? like the syndicates and Scryers/Aldor
your ideas of “fun” is completely anti-character ideology. AND not fair towards people who want to have their character apart from the rest.
and what about RPVP RPVP ? they have lots of characters, each with different allegiances.
Interested to hear if people find grinding out the same reputations on multiple characters enjoyable? - some systems are locked behind reputations for example the Zerith Mortis reputation and the conduit upgrades and other catchup items.
What do you think the advantage of this is? - when collecting transmog for example legacy loot means that the majority of items that drop you do not collect the appearance for.
There is an item for this however this system is somewhat obscure to new or inexperienced players. Why not just remove that barrier?
These changes will not resonate with everyone but I feel the positives far outweigh any negatives. The game needs to modernise to continue attracting an audience within the increasingly competitive MMO market.
ahhhh, so you dont want everyone to have fun. you just want to reduce the grind by cheating (doing work with different characters/different lives).
and anyway, zereth mortis is one of the least grindy places in wow. do 3 dailies a day for 3 weeks. +campaign. +WEEKLY quest, +raid finder. get revered in 2 secs.
