The problem is that Dragonflight is honestly just exceptionally boring and uninspired for leveling. The main story quests were all exceptionally short, monotonous and uninspired. And the side stories were just boring and one of the same. Sure, there were some nice moments, but those are drops in a lake.
Every other expansion is much better for leveling honestly. Yes, even Shadowlands.
I can only see Dragonflight leveling as good if you could level from 10 to 60 by just doing the main story quest, a.k.a reach from 10 to 60 in like 3 hours⌠but, whatâs the point of it if thatâs the case?
People all have their own preferences and thatâs fine but I donât see any issue with DF being the default going forward. Itâs nice to get to level through the more modern zone especially when skyriding is now going to be the norm going forward. This introduces them to their mount very early on and they get to learn the ways of wow in a really nice environment. I donât personally feel the questing was bad myself.
Because new players will do it only once (or a few times if they like it) I do not see a problem. I personally dislike it because I attempted to do it around twenty times this expansion. And there is no actual equivalent to Threads of Fate
I think there should be a specific leveling campaign that takes in every expansion.
It would take you to every continent and introduce you to all the major cities and towns. Youâd get the main flight paths and portals.
Youâd do a few quests in the first zone of each expansion and then visit the hub city and get sent to each zone, do a few quests. Each expansion would get an hour maybe.
This is for new players to get to know the world of the game.
It should be skippable and let players choose an expansion much like they do now if they wish to do it more fully.
Huh? Threads allowed you to do the zones in free order and gave you world quests from the start⌠which was âbaselineâ in DF as soon as you had one max lvl character, did you miss that?
Nope. From a lore perspective, Shadowlands actually needs to get a taste of its own medicine and be entirely retconned in the near future. Therefore, would be absolutely futile putting new players in a timeline that will (hopefully soon) cease to exist. That being said, I didnât really enjoy DF questing so maybe stick with BfA as default timeline.
Thatâs all well and good but ruins, starter accounts, people just playing on the sub to play the game up to and including the previous expansion.
The latest expansion is for the latest levelling. It will always make sense for the 1-60 or in this case 1-70 experience to be in a set expansion that isnât the latest one.
I do think itâs sensible to divert people to a chosen expansion as well (people can obviously vary it as they see fit). The more people in one the better the queue for dungeons, the more likely you are to see others while out in the world etc.
Abridged campaigns could work for most expansions if they were done in chronological, pre-Chromie time order. But how would you handle Cataclysm? TBC â> WotLK â> 80â85 Cata, or 1â60 Cata â> TBC â> WotLK â> 80â85 Cata?
I would have this done through the Bronze Dragonflight, you would be going back in time to investigate something or other. Chromie or Zidormu or some such would be taking you through this and explaining when and where you are and why youâre going there.
Itâs a bit of a fudge but this is the lore we have so not much else we can do with it.
