Dragonflight is (probably) the most buggy and least optimized expansion to date! Why are people OK with this?

Title. Let’s face it Dragonflight is bug ridden. Bugs everywhere. And performance is not really that good. Lots and lots of lags, frequent crashes all the time, sometimes making you unable to return to the game until you restart. Valdrakken has more frozen screen than game playing. And everything else pretty much.

I personally can run all older expansions with graphics set to 9 (OK with Ardenweald having a few hicups, but still running mostly smoothly) and in Dragonflight I have to set it to 4 (and still have Valdrakken barely playable).

But people seem to be OK with this. Saw a few days ago some people claiming DF is one of the best expansions ever (and I cringed tbh). I mean the content is kinda OK (even if there’s not much of it). The actual problem of the expansion are the bugs and bad performance.

I mean, I personally would be OK with it if it was a free game or something, but for 13€ per month, it’s just way way too buggy and laggy.

Edit: OMG the irony of me writing this while still being subbed. Lol.

My 8 year old PC is doing fine. The only issues were CPU overloads due to unoptimized events in raids (which were more or less fixed, though I expect the next raid tier to show similar problems in the first few weeks).
Haven’t experienced any crashes.

The only two bugs i have see until now was 3 times the kitten world quest and the trading post when released.

Same here
Only encountered the Kitten WQ (tho’ some shard hopping solved it) and the Trading Post - what they fixed (and actually “missed”)
And in the Academy the Bird Boss once or twice not appeared (I think we killed the little birds too fast, over DP them to hell) - but this was fixed too

Ok, whats your system specs??

I got a Ryzen 5 3600, GTX1660 super and 16gb ram@3200mhz- can run on graphics set to 7 (due to only having a 1080p monitor at 60hz) no problems whatsoever

No problems here, game plays smooth as butter.
Yes, DF is one of the best expansions for me, paying even double would be worth for me.

You never had, idk wb (or rares) disappearing, soup progress restarting or timer stopping, hunts disappearing, cheking on an npc who is not responding, ability not triggering (on Evoker mostly), etc…? Not even hitting a cliff while dragonriding and disconnecting? Or even disconnecting randomly while in a fight? Or just the screen freezing while the game seems to be running normally? Or lagging while racing? Interesting.

I’ll check tomorrow. Might be that.

I dunno i play on 10 and all settings on max at 5120x1440 and i have no real issues stop playing on a potato :stuck_out_tongue:

that said the performence i get in wow compared to ff 14 is so widely different its almost funny FF 14 completely demolishes Wow’s performence

I dont know wich game you play but, bugs yes, lag not really, crashes for certainly not. So ye as i said i dont know wich game you play.

Well, do us all a favour - disappear to FFXIV as you clearly are so negative about WoW. Guess you’re just one of those who keep subbed to diss this game

Just curious; Do you have any addons when experiencing this?
I’ve boiled down most of my issues due to addons, but some are indeed in the game (Random DCs, things despawning, etc).

I’d say I am “medium” on the “It’s a mess” and “It’s fine” opinion.
It has issues, and I am not going to deny that.

Someone didn’t play WoD on launch. Literally unplayable at the launch.

I’m having fun.

DF is indeed riddled with bugs. WoW itself still has bugs that are years old. It’s a joke they didn’t fix the ilv scaling yet and a lot of old gear is 100+ilv too low. The performance is badly optimized and FFXIV runs far smoother at better settings.

But I quit FF14 and returned to WoW for DF after a 5 year break for a reason. The game is fun. I’m enjoying myself. And FFXIV is an empty, sterile shell with no soul and the worst QoL and terrible combat.

This is not private server forums. In history of wow and i play since 2004 i personaly encountered 10 bugs in total.
Two in this expansion are:
1.Trading post day one
2.Bird boss in academy not landing because one small bird was alive and fell trough graphic (Academy bug was reported and we went around it by wiping and comming back.

I remember one from classic when warriors were falling trough the ground from charge uphill in Wsg.
But all in all i dont have idea what bugs you are talking about kind person.
Maybe type them here so we can all look at them and (if truly bugs) report them.

Actualy no. Lag while racing is my potato pc acting up. Thats not bug its pc performance issue. As for rest hearing 1st time

Short of the now fixed kitten climbing bug I’ve had less problems with DF than any expansion.

I agree with how buggy it is.
The Trading Post is a key feature of the expansion and has been embarrassingly riddled with bugs.
I keep getting that breadcrumb quest added to my log and then removed from my log every time I go near a major city. I’m not going near the Post for a few more days, I give it a week before going near it in case it explodes and erases my character…

Get quite a lot of Wow Crash errors
Did a fresh install on a Samsung 980 and still get them
Maybe addons related, unsure

Incredibly frustrating
Also not ok with it at all

I see the Community Feast is broken for the 3rd week in a row.
It works well enough to get the five tasks complete and pick up some renown which is at least tolerable.

That absolutely doesn’t fit my experience…

I had like only 3 major bugs.

  1. One rare not trigger-able because the NPC you need to talk to in the Ohn’ahran Plains is not approachable
  2. The Texture/Memory leak we had recently (ca. 1-2 months ago)
  3. Avenging Crusader being bugged rn on Holy Pala, increasing CDs instead of decreasing them.

Aside of those 3, I have only seen a few visual bugs that had 0 impact on gameplay.

No, I don’t use any addons.
