Dragonflight or MOP:Remix as a Returning Player?

Hey folks. Returning player here (last played in BfA) that’s just finished the main campaign of Dragonflight. I’m trying to work out if I should spend the remaining time before The War Within doing post-campaign stuff in Dragonflight or levelling alts in the MoP Remix?

For context, I’m a casual player that’s never really done any end game content but I would like to get into M+ at some point.

So should I spend the next two months focusing on my main (Arms Warrior) in Dragonflight doing post campaign stuff or should I make use of the MoP event to level alts for TWW?

Try a bit of both and see what you enjoy?

“Focusing on your main” is fine if you have fun doing it but a new expansion is basically a gear reset so any shinies you get will be rendered obsolete in short order.

Thanks Dejarous, that’s what I’m doing at the minute, kinda bouncing between the two. Having fun in MoP but also a little concerned I’ll end up with 2-3 max level alts that I have no idea how to actually play cos of all the tinker gems etc

if you want to play with stutters, dragonflight,if you want to play without stutters, remix pandaria.

Not sure I understand what you mean Thedarksteel, stutters?

he probably means if your pc sucks you cannot play df.
he probably didnt raid in remix with 3u7474747 spell effects flying around.

neither mode has lags or stutters for me on 10 graphic settings.

remix is only good if you like mounts and transmogs. the gameplay is super boring with no depth and a long long long grind till you even feel remotely op.
only if you reach the last 2 upgrade levels you suddenly do dmg.

df is fun but depends on what you like to do i guess

Yeah PC performance isn’t an issue here.

Thanks for the advice, Irontoaster. I’ve played a bit more Mists and tbh I’m mostly just spam clicking through quests and chain running Scholomance and Scarlett Monastery… Definitely leaning more towards spending my time in DF until TWW.

For what it’s worth, if you’re playing your main now, you will only really get gear to start the next expansion slightly faster.

MoP Remix gets you the chance to grab some transmogs and mounts you might not yet have. Personally, I’d play Retail on and off to get some of the catch up gear via events and the weekly quest, and focus on Remix for transmogs.
You can still put in some dungeon runs, and see if you’d like to get into M+, but that’s nothing that will go away anytime soon.

That’s a great point. Honestly I can’t see me doing any M+ stuff in Dragonflight this close to the end of the expansion, and since there’ll basically be a gear reset in TWW (I assume) I don’t think it makes much sense to focus on that anyway, i’ll likely get into that in TWW instead.

I think I’ll split my time and get a couple of alts to 70 in time for TWW as well as get some of the post main campaign stuff done in DF.

Once you get lvl 70 and 4200 threads on your “main” in remix, you can level alts in 3 hours. I’d go with remix for sure. You can level multiple specs (I have DH, warrior, paladin, monk, mage at 70, and I’m gonna pick my main after we get somewhat final patchnotes for TWW), get the general feeling of the playstyle of specific specs and choose your main for TWW. Although I’d wait for patch notes and whatnot cos blizzard will butcher some of the specs for sure. Just keep in mind that remix is wow on steroids. I have 100% crit 100% haste 188% mastery 100% vers on my warrior for example so gameplay will be a bit different as I never use certain spells I would use in retail because they’re a waste of GCD in remix… but yeah it’s a perfect game mode to just get a feeling of certain specs.

Yeah there is a big issue with scaling on fresh lvl 70 toon but with current buffs to bronze you should be able to get to 476 ilvl within a week or two. Simply do three daily quests (1 dungeon, 1 scenario, 2 raid bosses), 1 heroic dungeon, 1 normal dungeon, 1 heroic scenario, 1 normal scenario, kill 4 pandaria world bosses and 2 bosses on timeless isle, and then do all raids on heroic. Sounds like a lot but raids are super quick. Tons of 476 ilvl people boosting others for free. Oh yeah, 5 min timed scenario on isle of thunder is turbo op for your cloak. You get probably 8 green threads, 8 blue threads, 2-4 epic ones, and 1-2 legendary ones in 5 minutes. You can do it once a day

Be wary if you gear to 476 in remix when the chars moves to retail it will drop to 415.

yeah no way.
if you do the 3 dailies and run the 2 dungeons + 2 scenarios and siege hc which takes around 1h of game time you roughly get 1 whole gear set upgrade.
at 34 upgrade levels it would take you lets say 30 days.
you still can only get max ilvl over a long time or hard grinding like crazy.
for context, i did the dailies since launch and several achievements and sometimes more raids etc. and i am approaching today upgrade 33.
it certainly is mindnumbing boring and i will never run siege in my life again

raids feel quick, but in fact to clear all raids will take probably 3h or so.
siege alone takes roughly 1h even with enough dps.
i mean galakras almost takes 10min alone lol

:grimacing:

I got to 476 in like 8 days. I have a completely different experience with remix…

Do whatever you want because new expansion means new begining.
We all start at 0 and from there we make our 2 year journey.

alright…
either you frog farm for 24h
or your play time is much higher than you think lol

I mean I have basically 1 day 14h played on my lvl 70 toon and I just reached max ilvl today.
now that is after 2 rounds of bronze buffs.
If you reached max ilvl before the buffs you either farmed infinite respawns and exploit or you just played a metric ton or get carried mythic SoO by froggers.
there is no other way as the most effective way after the exploits got fixed is just to the dailies and log off in terms of played/bronze
