Dragonflight Paladin Trees

Hello,

Paladin spec are incredibly bad designed with nothing new and fun, class tree is okayish, needs some small changes like divine protection should be on class tree, why do we need to spend 4 talents to make the divine steed (wich everyone hates) functional?

Class:

  • Remove divine steed and replace it with speed of light or Long arm for all specs.

  • Crusader Strike dealing less damage than auto atacks?

  • Bring back actual seals instead passive effects named seals, thats lazy design. Warriors got their stances back why cant we have seals? Are paladins a joke to you?

  • Raid utility for all specs

  • Divine shield off the gcd

  • If cringe steed stays remove it from gcd and make it supress snares.

  • Bring back party blessings.

  • Rework/remove Holy Avenger.

  • Actualy give us something brand new and fun.

Retribution:

  • Bring back long arm of the law with 40% movespeed for 4 seconds. Idk why it was even removed instead of improving it. Fun detected?

  • Make a talent like warriors have Wirlhwind deals more %damage with a Cooldown, need this for divine storm, this ability is to iconic and fun to use.

  • Blade of Wrath/Exorcism choice. Adjust the damage arround Melee/ranged.

  • Justicarā€™s Vengeance remove it or rework, no one uses it, I dont even know why this useless dead talent still here.

  • Rework/remove/replace shield of vengeance in case that we get divine protection

  • Retribution aura doest not even feel like an aura.

  • We need raid utility, why should we bring a ret to raids?

  • Thereā€™s a lot of rng talents %chance to make X, Y, Z ability to do this proc that, change this please, we already have tons of RNG.

  • A lot of talents arround consecration and that doesnt even make it good or fun, once again, lazy design, its easy to fill a tree with talents like those.

Holy:

  • More talents to paladins that like to heal from ranged.

  • Barrier of Faith (talent) needs to be improved, its a joke right now or replace it entirely with Sacred shield itself.

  • Our mastery is not fun, Illuminated Healing was way more fun.

  • Blessing of summer, winter etc is bad design, you know what blessings we will be waiting for: +% damage and +% healing.

  • Infusion of light should be a choice with a talent that brings back old infusion of light ( more casting speed ).

  • A lot of talents that buff holy light and flash of light, lazy, nothing new, I donā€™t see that on certain classes.

  • Divine Favor back.

  • Good to see Tyr deliverance but the 20% healing bonus only affect Holy Light and Flash. We barely use theses.

  • Light of dawnā€¦ Rework or replace it with holy radiance, everyone wants this.

  • Rule of Law(talent) is not a fun way to encourage ranged healing, just another lazy talent.

  • Divine Revelations (talent) is so bad that it hurts to see.

  • Beacon of light from 50% to 30% just blizz dev could make an easy talent to buff it back to 50%. Wtf is this?

  • Empyreal ward (talent) our lay on hands gives the target more 15% armor wow, we canā€™t even use that on arenas, is the blizz dev out of ideas? But im surprised Lay on hands is not nerfed just to make a talent to buff back lay on hands

Remember Divine steed is disliked by the majority of paladin community, who likes a screaming horse that gets stuck sometimes and its clunky to use? Stop being stubborn blizzard!

Hire shaman dev to work on paladin class please. :grinning:

Btw, if you guys want to get more ideas and see the crazy ammount of posts complaining about paladins in DF, just check US Forums, plenty of information there.

Thanks.

I like the holy suggestions from here:

Read the explanation at the bottom too, within the site:

Its sent to the devs, hope they can do changes: would be great if we could decide in the tree if we want to heal like a caster from rangeā€¦ or choose the melee build instead.

It is so unreal how out of touch they are with paladin community. Either they are lazy to make paladins feel like paladins again and fun or they are just lazy.
I canā€™t stop thinking how warriors got their iconic stances back, more mobility, and we got passives named seals with boring effects and long arm of the law removed instead of buffed.
Oh did I say Justicarā€™s Vengeance still in the game? Thatā€™s a big lmao

what paladins expect most with the release of each expansion is the elimination of the divine steed hahah

Yeah.not gonna happen sadly.

Can we at least have it glyphed to look like Alā€™ar flaming or a lion?

Many of us, iĀ“m sure that prefer that this talent be eliminated, speed of light or long arm was much better than retard horse.
A glyph that eliminate the mount while use the sprint or choose another mount itĀ“s keep actual state of 0 mobility.
Glyph for eliminate mount could be cool and necesary but not enough

Remember guys, crusader strike still hits less that auto atack

Bro paladins are not evil people, they dont want to harm others but bring justice.

Crusader strike is more of a scolding of justice, something you do to evil prople to get them to behave without a risk of injury

After the rework they did in legion, the paladin is a class that they try to bring closer to the diablo crusader, in my opinion it doesnā€™t feel like the retribution paladin we had to play as damage.

Now, with the expansion change, itā€™s time to address all those shortcomings that the paladin clearly has.

I think he lacks group support and currently has very little mobility because of the divine steed.

The paladin dps archetype, if we donā€™t manage to separate it from the d3 crusader, will remain far away from what we have known with characters like tirion.

100% agreed. Paladin doesnt feel like itself since legion, its more like diablo crusader itā€™s so sad :frowning:
Blizzard is listening I believe, they just need to stop being so stubborn and stop acting like they always know what we want, they dont.

Other then the steed, in what way does it do that? And even then the steed has a function other then a simple speedbuffā€¦ its only the vissual of it, nothing more.

Does it do dmg? Does it drag enemies around? It did push them away for prot only but thats about it. Were we able to wield 2h and sheild? There was a short idea for falling sword but that as to much it seems.

So the only connection is a vissual of 1 single spell and suddenly we are crusaders from D3?

Imo we would have been soooo much better of if they actually did it and gone down that road, we would actually have gotten some fun stuff rather then a freaking speedboost that you ppl still freaking want!!!

What we are asking for is to get utility back, we are doing very well in numbers, however, with the little utility we have, other classes are preferred.
You are right that maybe right now it is more similar in protection spec.
If we look at the proposed new talents we see that it has a strong synergy with consecration but not so much focused on support.

Warriors got their stances back, we got boring passives named seals, Im confused here. Send help

Whats the utility that we lost? Ret has never had any unique utility other then Kings in vanilla. We had aura mastery for 1 expansion only i think but never ret uniqe. All we ever have had is our offhealing and thats basically worthless with all the self deff every other class has these days. Its only good to save the afk guy in pve, in pvp its nerfed by 50-ish %.

Edit: Btw all the CC is on the basic tree, so all Paladins gets the same CC. Repentance will likley never be taken by ret but think it can fit well with holy, so they have options, not that blinding light is bad for them either. DF will be a CC heavy expansion like MoP that everyone loves so much but all pala speccs are the same here.

What in the world sre you talking about.
We had sick offheals,3 % aura damage, divine sacrifice, aura mastery, mana back on everyone, blessings, good mobility, good defensive, etc etc etc

Are they really that usefull? For example would a ret even go for Lay on hands in DF? Its a joke of a skill tbh and no one even bats a eye that its still in game. Its a flavor skill just as helpfull as auras.

Was this big enough to ever bring a Ret? If this aura was bugged and didnt increase the dmg would anyone even notice? Did it warrant the usual mediocre dmg of ret over the meta class? And even then, a fire and forget buff is imo the worst kind of buff there is!

These ret specific?

Not long ago, we could use word of glory and raise the life of the group quite a bit.
What is simply requested is a really useful speed talent and increased utility.
We have very good damage now, but if we donā€™t get utility back like kilikili saysā€¦
The retribution what do they want it for, being able to choose a dk with cr.
With the exception of speed, which affects all modes, these things we are discussing are focused on pve.
We are just trying to give our impressions and it seems that most of the community agrees on the same points.

I know its Alpha (lol) but retribution is not looking good. I am just finding it hard to see what Retribution will bring to the table over a Holy Paladin in a raid or instance. The talent tree concept is interesting as it provides players with greater customisation and creative control over building their Paladin but having to invest points to learn previously base abilities is poor execution.

There are no less than SIX talents that somehow interact in someway shape or form with consecration - I suppose this is to actively make consecration more than just a filler button you press during downtime. But SIX talents is far too many, when those slots could be used for other options such as utility or mobility.

There are so many options to pick from, if consecration has a cooldown of 9 seconds and judgement has a base cooldown of 12 secs, why not bring back judgement of justice?

Judgment of Justice: Increases your movement speed by 20% for 20 sec.

Or Speed of Light?

  • Movement speed increased by 20/40/60%. Duration: 4 seconds
  • Give it a 45 sec cooldown if you will to stop the QQ from other entitled classes.

This talent build doesnā€™t do anything to address the three issues for Retribution:

  1. Mobility
  2. Survivability
  3. Getting a raid spot over other melee dps.

What unique utility does ret bring over Holy or Prot and lets face it Holy is basically always got a confirmed raid spot, devotion aura is available to all three specs and Retribution Aura is the most selfish and pointless buttons to press in this game, if DEVO is already available in raid/instance, Iā€™ll just run crusader aura for the lols.

So how can we compete with other melee DPS for raid spots when almost every melee dps build now bring raid wide/party buffs or mitigation cooldown of some shape or form. Devotion Aura just doesnā€™t cut it anymore.

The stolid ā€œBring the player and not the classā€ mantra fell flat on its face in Shadowlands M+ Of course you need Bloodlust and a Battle Res but then you may need to consider skips, depending on the dungeon Rogue shroud, DH imprison, Priest Mind Soothe, etc. Dispel enrage effects. Mob repositioning, Death Grip, Ring of Piece, Knockbacks.

With the reliance on Magic damage and the introduction of Blessing of Spell warding to replace BOP, it is an indication of dungeons/encounters with a degree of magical damage, outside of our burst, what will Retribution paladins bring to the table that Holy and Protection cant?

I apologise for my long post and diatribe, but Iā€™d hate for us to spend another expansion handicapped because of ā€œlol bubble plate healsā€ and ā€œlolretā€ mentality.

100% agree.
I think that if all says our vision, devs maybe fix this disaster after the expansion.

They donā€™t even need to creare brand new things.
In pvp it is enough for them to make law and order talent baseline (built in hand of hindrance). So if we can have a solid 70% slow uptime on our targets, even if we walk like wheelchair, we can still reach our targets.

Not so many people have noticed that we lost Utherā€™s devotion lego effect (each wog/tv gave 3 sec cdr to freedom/bop/bos) - many good pallys used it playing in a cleave for crazy utility (combined with unbound freedom pvp talent).

This new concecration concept needs crazy numbers tweaking. Make it ā€œthe floor is lavaā€ style lol. Not going to lie, but the only reason why i started playing pally in original classic wow was concecration, vengeance proc (glowing hands) and t0,5/1 sets and later t2 and t2,5 were awesome too. If they make concecration finally worth using in pvp - ill buy it.
