Dragonflight Priest Talent Feedback Thread

they will.
Monk, Paladin, Druid, shaman all have them in their basic tree

I hear shadowform is still a thing… Shadowform is the only thing about shadow priest that prevents me from enjoying it, especially as a Void Elf… I really don’t want 3 different shadow forms when I barely enjoy having 1. Wish they would just remove it in Dragonflight already, so many people hate it, you just look like a void fart. I didn’t spend hours and hours farming mogs to have it all invalidated to look like a sad fart

I dont think as many you think dislike it.

While i agree it should likely have a option out of it i.e a glyph which removes its aesthetical effects.

Saying its hated and needs removing is a false stance.

Its shadows aesthetic. And its my favorite thing existing aesthetically in this game.

Shadow without shadowform would be a poor mans warlock. We have barely any spell effects to realistically give us any aesthetic if you were to delete it.

There are some definite further changes i think are needed for shadow but it looks better then it did.

It needs improving in sense of how many “improved talents” are everywhere. Theres just way too many. Shadowfiend has like 3 other talents to improve it which is insane.

I am actually getting to the point where if we get 1 more Hunter post before any Priest post I might just not play DF. This is just absurd.

to be fair, the lead designer for priests(and druids) apparently quit the company, which put a halt to the work. they released their framework idea in the talents you see, and then left. this is why it looks flawed, and why we haven’t heard anything. hopefully they already have someone new and begun, but otherwise, this is why we’re likely to see later notices and changes to our tree than other classes.

I get that, but Blizz should at least communicate this to us clearly.

“Hey guys. The lead Priest designer is gone. We are still working on Priests and will keep you updated.”

I am full hopium that we’ll see something phenomenal once we start to see them working on it again. and yes, I wish they’d communicate a little more as well.

They have already changed up the priests talents tbh.

Looks like searing nightmare is staying tho

What did they change? They gave us the initial talents for DF and after that literally nothing. Hunters have had a plethora of feedback and changes since their first version.

Literally all Priests need is Searing Nightmare made seperate from Mind Sear, or removed entirely. Why is this taking so long?

Really ? Can you show us this, because AFAIK nothing has changed at all since the initial, and dull, talent trees were shown a couple of months back.

Unless im seeing things i swear it looked alittle different. Maybe go insane tho… now relooking at it i might incorrect

I maybe going insane thought i saw some place changes happen. Could be wrong if im the knly one who thought so though.

And we all know blizz typically take things way too far in the other direction, so prolly a group of convuluted changes which will make us suck at ST for amother 6 years instead of AoE :rofl:

You’re probably thinking about the aoe hotfix we got at the start of the season

Could have gotten this muddled up yeah haha.

we did get a small change, but it didn’t really fix anything. Mind Restrain and Dispel Magic(I think it was) switched places from the first iteration, as well as Desperate Prayer and Clear Mind moving a little. In the shadow tree, Eidolic Intuition was made a one pointer, rather than a 2 pointer. but that is it. you didn’t fully go insane.

Ah guess it will depend how many more changes it gets then lol. Which will requiire alot of hopium to believe enough shall happen

With the initial release of our DF talents, we’ve been introduced to some interesting talents of familiar name; N’Zoth, Y’Shaarj, C’Thun, and Yogg-Saron. Now, I can’t speak for every priest out there, but personally, I feel like these capstone talents could bring some very interesting and unique gameplay choices/differences, even within the shadow tree itself.

Once things are back in order and the new priest devs again can begin to work on the tree, I think it would be very interesting to see a gameplay choice in these idol talents; First I think splitting the idol talents into three ends could solidify this, with C’thun(Blaster) on one side, N’zoth(Dots) on the other side, and a choice node between Y’Shaarj, and Yogg-Saron in the middle, the last two focusing on illusions/pets.

– C’thun is blaster focused playstyle(Mind Blast, Mind Flay, Void Torrent/Shadow Crash), with nodes focusing on that style above it.

– N’zoth is a more dot focused playstyle(bonuses to SW: Pain, Vampiric Touch and Devouring Plague) with dot focused talents leading to it.

– Yogg-Saron/Y’Shaarj has focus on Apparitions and Shadowfiend/Mindbender with bonuses to these on the line leading to those.

-Naturally still making it so multiple idols cannot be taken at once-

To add a little in terms of how I think AoE could possibly work with these ideas;
– Shadowflame Prism(moved to the shadowtree) could be the last node directly before the pet focused Idol of Y’shaarj/Idol of Yogg’Saron, since it adds to both aoe and single target damage.

– Searing Nightmare(hear me out fellow priests :kissing_heart:) with a slight change that makes it castable on targets with Devouring Plague or alters Devouring Plague itself to spread the other dots onto targets around it’s target, would be similar to current Searing Nightmare but not need Mind Sear. This iteration of Searing Nightmare could possibly be a node leading into the dot focused Idol of N’zoth.

– For the blaster focused Idol of C’thun, I was thinking we could do something with the Void Eruption part of our cooldowns, along with the Psychic Link node. But this is with the hopes that it’s viable on a game design standpoint… so, split Void Eruption and Voidform, make the latter it’s own cooldown(possibly off global), and put it higher in the tree, available for all, and then have Void Eruption be an insanity spender, further down towards Idol of C’thun.

If our cooldown is to stay a spell-like the current eruption, then I’d like to propose a middle-ground; with the old eruption split, make Surrender to Madness the ability that puts us into Voidform but remove the “you die” mechanic. It was flavourful in legion where we were battling with insanity, but not so much in the recent iterations of shadowpriest, where insanity nearly lost it’s meaning, if I may be so blunt.

While this idea might not be perfect, I feel like this would let shadowpriests make their choice of playstyle, which I personally feel is what the talent trees should be across all classes, but that might just be me.

Thank you all for listening, and I apologize for not having anything for the other priest specs… It’s Shadowpriest that I know and love, after all. :upside_down_face:

That’s damn right we do! https://www.wowhead.com/news/druids-and-priests-deserve-better-dragonflight-communication-coming-for-those-328538

Yay…he mentioned us…

Why do i feel like deja-vu.
Why did we need yet another game director interview to atleast get mentioned…in shadowlands it was Preach now its Max (indirectly). Lets hope the result will be better and faster this time.

Also bloodlust…for evokers with raid buff…combat ress for paladins( ill give them that…ret desperately need something to be more desirable…not holy or prot though). Both of these would help us significantly i feel like.

Word that they’re aware is nice and all, but I feel like we already knew this
as long as people doesn’t get anything substancial they can look at, I don’t think they’ll care much. Also, I feel like all the people complaining about lack of communication in threads, while warranted for sure, only makes it more awkward for the devs, and gives them more posts to read through that doesn’t provide feedback.

So, I’ll just keep spinning up any ideas I might have, in hopes that at least one might be seen and possibly considered by someone on their team.

On that note, been liking quite a few of the ones you’ve come up with yourself.
