Dragonflight was a good expansion

It is upsetting me how people who don’t play wow for many years now, make videos claiming that “it feels like doing chores” like Madseason, or Asmon. It’s so clear that they refer to BFA and Shadowlands and have 0 experience with Dragonflight.

I am in love with DF because there’s literally 0 mandatory chore that has to be done. Reputations, world content, it’s all cosmetic. Power progression comes from Dungeons, Raids, PVP. And it’s very alt-friendly, and a lot of things are account-wise, but old wow players still make videos and criticize wow for not being account-wide and alt-friendly. Very sad.

I had a blast in DF. Yeah, it has issues, don’t get me wrong. The storytelling was stale, dungeon locations were not unique and just landmarks from the map, hard metas with high entry barriers, crest farming, I get it. A lot of problems.

But.

For a semi-casual player like me, who can never go past 2000 IO, who loves to collect and be chill, who loves playing with 3-4 chars at the same time, this was an awesome expansion. Literally, I skipped WEEKS of gear progression, but I always found teams anyways because it’s alt-friendly, and there’s a lot of people to play together.

And it’s funny how people who were defending Shadowlands, saying that if blizz listened to playerbase, wow would immediately die. But in fact, looking at the sub numbers, DF didn’t heal wow, but stopped the bleeding for sure. Imagine they kept what was in Shadowlands and didn’t listen to players…

In conclusion, DF was a good expansion. Not perfect, but good. Totally worth its dollars.

Glad you enjoyed it, I thought it was generally positive.

I don’t understand why you give oxygen to the “personalities”. I personally don’t know nor really care what Asmon thinks and I’ve never heard of the other person. If you find their opinions upsetting, why do you go out of your way to hear them?

It’s not a hate comment on them. I enjoy their content, they are great content-makers, don’t get me wrong. That’s why it’s upsetting me when they make such comments, especially asmon, he has big influence on his audience.

Me as a warcraft fan since 2003, I want the franchise to be successful and grow.

I don’t think Dragonflight overall was bad.
Was it great? No.
Was it good? Yes

I enjoyed many aspects of the expansion, enjoyed a large part of the story and dabbled in every content except PvP, so at least it got me to play.
But there’s definitely things I personally would have loved different.

I did enjoy it a lot more than SL. The dragon riding is one of the best things Blizzard added. I wish they make more things with it.

It was better than shadowlands but that in itself doesn’t say much for its greatness.

I mean it was an ok expansion but it was also the first expansion where I just completely stopped reading quest texts.

Never cared for youtubers or streamers, nor their opinions. Just another random person on the internet spouting theirs and more likely it isn’t really their opinion, they say it just to stir drama and get likes. Sad really.

Lorewise? Forgettable
Gameplaywise? It was okay, better than shadowlands for sure; the dungeons and raids except for amirdrassil could have been much better

I still heavily prefer SL over DF, lorewise and - to some degree - even gameplay wise.

Part of it is certainly that dragons in WoW simply don’t excite me, while death/afterlives and cosmic forces do, but all in all DF just felt soulless to me; not just literally :stuck_out_tongue: in comparison to SL, but also because the different zones barely felt different and the “new” races we met (centaur, tuskarr, djaradin) didn’t have any named NPCs with a personality that helps me to remember them fondly or even to remember them at all.

Torghast/covenant events were way more engaging/diverse than the DF events, who were all just “nuke tons of weak spawning NPCs” and a format you can enter any time, whenever you want is so much more preferrable to events you have to be there for at a certain time.

The few max level story quests we got in DF pale in comparison to the artwork of the intertwining campaigns of the four covenant stories in SL and were a huge let down in general. While SL kept me enganged with farming for collectibles/renown the whole expansion during pandemic times, DF had me bored after a few weeks into every patch since I already had all there was to get. Transmog in DF was also sad; the same model for all zones or only single pieces instead of whole sets. Patches brought a little variety, but so did they in SL and each patch came with way more collectibles back then.

Seasons 3 + 4 in SL were way more satisfying to play than any DF season due to better M+ rewards and valor instead of different crests+flightstones.

Meh.
Had some good gameplay features and changes.
Dragonriding and “solo rbg” woop woop!
The rest just feels like the standard daily activity collecting hamsterwheel they’ve put out for years now so nothing exciting.
What really killed it for me though was the design and setting.

It was okay. If I’m right and it’s the base for future expansions then i can appreciate it much more

I am also in the boat of Dragonflight was a breath of fresh air when it came to removing World of Chorecraft.

I have gone back to logging in to enjoy playing the game, not having a stupid to do list before I can enjoy myself.

DF is the most boring expansion Blizz ever create.

Fairly sure no one is complaining about DF having chores, on the contrary I often read that might be the first step in the good directions. But as others said, it wasn’t great, it was “just” good. Which is a positive sign given the depths from where the game is coming from, but now they need to do better (And I’m not sure they will given what they are currently doing with affixes).

Since BC i enjoyed every expansion i didn’t even hate WOD cause i had my share of fun there back in when it launched and i played for like 6 months
but the only expansion i hate right now from all of them is Shadowlands
and even tho i enjoyed korthia for some unknown reasons and m+
Still i will say that it’s the most idiotic expansion that was launched to this day
But maybe TWW is going to replace shadowlands
OH who am i kidding

I don’t but if they were the only vocal people on the forums then wow would officially be dead. Any sense of progression would get tossed away in favour of instant gratification

Cos sylvanas ain’t front and centre being despicable?

I agree. In part compared to SL it was miles ahead, but also because the things to do were actually very decent. Dragonriding is fun, I love that there’s no systems you need to maintain else you fall behind and the crest upgrade is a good way to keep gear relevant, especially in m+. Story- wise is was so so, best for me was Abberus, but still a few loose ends like Iridikron.

I especially liked older dungeons in the m+ pool. I didn’t like the change to only 10 key levels, and that’s coming from someone who got KSH the first weeks in last 3 seasons, including s4.

All in all very solid, looking forward to WW.

Legion it was an Better expansion :moyai:

We Need back green Jesus.
