Right now the drakes we ride on roar like every 5 seconds even while idle on the ground and its volume is tied to the Dialog volume settings slider. Yet its sound files are 5 times louder than other NPC dialogs. So right now you have a choice to either hear great voice actors or not become deaf.
Please, for the love of god, make it a separate slider or tie it to the Effects slider instead.
Should be actually SFX. Maybe it was tagged wrong for the loudness settings.
But I agree they are a bit too loud by default. Just had a quest moment where I did hear 2 times a roar and thought a story dragon appears for the Centaur City but it was just players.
The dragonriding sounds are annoying, especially that hard landing thump. Anyone who knows what that and the other sounds ID’s are? I will use Mute Sound File addon to mute them if only I knew the ID of the sound files… seems impossible to find specific sound ID’s nowadays.
I have no problem with the volume per se, it’s sheer amount of them that can occur in succession. They should just be tied to /mountspecial like normal mounts.
For anyone that might want to tab out without hearing this annoyance ctrl+S is a quick way to toggle sounds on and off until Blizzard does something about this.
Absolutely. I was near someone yesterday who was AFK on their grounded dragon mount and it was roaring every few seconds. It could be heard from so far away also…was really irritating!
My problem with the roaring is that if you go afk because of whatever the dragon might get stuck in a roar loop so it’ll roar then after 2 seconds of silence it roars again, and again, and again, constantly.
This would bve only way to make it good. For many of use Dragons are loud and its part of what they are.
Apart from that, theres allready too much effects toned down to feel like nothing. Many mounts that used to feel heavy due sound like Sky golem now feel like weightless toys because the feet have no loud impact sound usually tied to heavy things like that. Guns have been toned down and now i dont really know in group whether i pressed an action or not since there is no good audio cue to represent it.
Separate slider would be a way to go. I would tone it up immediately
Paying attention more to the roar now while sitting down.
Part of it is that the “roar” they put in has a high pitch to it “EEEEEeeeeEEE!!” basically screeching or chalkboard scratching.
Naturally as humans, we pick up high pitch sounds as “irritating” and to put us at high alert, this is why babies crying puts us on alarm mode to take care of them.
If it was on a lower pitch, it wouldn’t be as bad.
It def is abit too loud. Somebodies dragon was just stuck in a roar loop whilst I was trying to listen to main storyline dialogue and it kinda ruined it for me as I couldnt hear them properly.
