Very serious question. Can a dragon be considered a lizard? I’ve already seen some people calling Evokers as Lizards.
So I was wondering if this is scientifically correct. Lizard has 4 limbs, while a dragon has 4limbs+2wings, which already makes them a bit different. But both of them got scales.
As per official sources:
Dragons (known as nelghor in orcish) are immense, powerful, winged reptilian creatures, created from proto-dragons by the titans and keepers to safeguard the world of Azeroth millennia ago.
Not lizards, just reptilian creatures
The Dracthyr are dragonkin
Dragonkin (or dragonkind) are all creatures descended from and including dragons, from drakes to drakonid, dragonkin can also refer to a category that includes specifically dragonspawn and drakonid
Now we don’t know how much got in to the mix from the species Neltharion used to create the Dracthyr (or even the Dracthyr were whelps at some point or not, had to mature, train or were just supersoliders grown in pods, like the Clones from SW) or how reptilian they are
Maybe Dragon Isles will have some lore about them
Untill then, it is a racial slur to call a Dracthyr a Lizard
You are just grumpy because your ancestors were created to be servants and caretakers, constructs resembling clockwork machines, pre-programmed without soul or free will… and needed the Curse of Flesh to be free and actually have descendants who became Gnomes
Quite
Anyhow, my point still stands; Dragons are immense, powerful, winged reptilian creatures; lizards are a widespread group of squamate reptiles. Every lizard is reptilian, but not all reptilians are lizards
Calling a Dracthyr a “Lizard” is just as insulting as calling a Dragon “winged lizard”; both are racial slurs and in both cases you risk a fiery death and the wrath of the insulted
