Druid Animal form markings

What exactly do the markings on the shoulders of the Druid animal forms stand for, I could not find any information about that topic (only guessings)

Based on seeing the similar symbol in a quest to do with the eye of Elune, it seems to match that. I can’t remember off the top of my head where the quest was but the symbol was exactly the same, the crescent with the circle. (Also nice name, D&D player? :P)

It depends on which symbols you mean? The crescent and full moon represent Elune, as Druids exist as a combination of Malore(Ancient)+Elune(Goddess)= Cenarius=Druids. Some of the markings were explained in the novel ‘‘Stormrage’’ as an indication of power, druids like Malfurion that spent years in the Emerald Dream became marked differently, as a sign of great power, for instance the Lightning bolts on his chest.
In game there is no explanation for the markings sadly.
