Ok, so I’m stuck between Paladin or Druid. I only play PvE, and want to tank/dps. ATM I got a Druid that is lvl 115 and I love the speed while moving indoors, and instant fly etc. The downside is, sometimes if there are 2/3+ mobs fighting im having a hard time keeping myself alive (I lvl as feral). So how does Paladin do that? In dps spec that is. If I go tank spec with Druid it’s not a problem, to kill multiple mobs, just takes a little longer, I know that that goes the same as pally in tank spec.
So the question is;
Will Druid get any better, when lvl 120 and some better gear?
Wich class is more fun? Tank and or dps?
How does Paladin do dps wise?
I haven’t played druid in BfA but the speed is nice like you said. Ret pally is pretty tanky. It has a couple of defensive CDs, and instant heal proc and lay on hands for emergencies. I’m not sure what kind of azerite traits druid gets but when I leveled my pala at the start of the expac I found Resounding Protection good for questing with. It increases survivability a lot, especially if you can stack it 2 or 3 times for different gear pieces.
You can check for your self that there are more druids than paladin at m+15 and above dungeons
Which is a fair representation that they are not worse than paladins.
So ye it will get better.
I levelled my Ret pally alt in open-world PvE and didn’t have any problems staying alive against small groups of mobs. I haven’t yet played any other classes, but I’d say Ret Pally is the swiss army knife of DPSes. It has loads of utility, is pretty tanky, has loads of self heal and can be set up for single target or cleave damage (or a bit of both). The only downside is that Ret Pally is low mobility and IS slow - if you play with Warmode you’ll find yourself getting kited by mobile classes and then watching the more cowardly players run away when you’ve nearly killed them.
General opinion is that Ret Pally is one of the best for solo play.
bears do fairly well at m+, depending on how high you intend to play but i have to be honest, i have barely seen any ferals in bfa in general, let alone m+.
for a Main druid since 2011, I strongly recommend you to go with Druid and trust me I’m not saying that because I main druid, I’m saying that because Druid is the Master-class of all World of Warcraft. On the other hand I also play Paladin and I really enjoy it, because it has really strong potential with the tank spec, I think Protection Paladin is one of the strongest tanks in PVE, no doubt. but the problem with Paladin is not a fun class, I mean this in all specs of Pala, yes it is strong class but not fun maybe Holy is kind of fun but the rest is not.
Why Druid is a Master-class?
Pros: As a tank, you have great defense abilities and you can handle a lot of mobs, and I mean A LOT, because Guardian is all about Armor and this helps a lot with physical damage, and it has a strong self-healing, it also has 1 Interrupt single-target, 2 interrupts AoE.
Druids in general have high mobility and many utilities like: Stealth, Root, Typhon, Resurrect a friend while in combat, Movement Speed buff for Raid/Party, Farming herbs & looting while mounted.
Cons: As a tank, it lacks of magic shield, and it has kind of low dps, hard to handle high mythic keys like 16+ and more. but Guardian is still great in raids.
As dps, Balance is really in good spot right now, it deals huge dps in AoE. What about Feral? sorry for saying that but it sucks so bad in PVE, but in PVP I think there are better melee classes than Feral right now.
As healer, I will not talk anymore because literally everyone in WoW knows Resto is the king when it comes to healing both in PVP & PVE. Check the top 50 of mythic plus leaderboard, 80% of the healers are Resto druids.
im a resto druid main and i enjoy my owly girl a great deal but i ve been always curious about the melee spec. i ve barely seen anyone playing feral (or maybe its just me idk). is there something wrong with it or is it just my bias view?
Sorry for saying this, but I spent a lot of time playing Feral and I had the right Azerite, Essences, Talent, Enchantments, Stats, Rotations, etc… I’m still saying that, Feral in PVE is totally garbage, yet it is very fun spec to play and I like the play-style so much, but after all, it is impossible to stay at top 5 dps in the raid, even in mythic plus you will always stay in 3rd spot in Dps meter, maybe in AOE you get 2nd if you’re lucky, but in boss fight? you’ll definitely are going to be the 3rd in dps, Rip and Rake are garbage too, no matter how much mastery you have, they still deal low Dps overtime, I hope Blizzard buff these two abilities seriously.
Since you main Resto, and have the intellect items, I recommend you to play Balance, I play Balance too, you can’t imagine how strong it is in AOE.
thanks for your insight. yeah i got a balance and a resto druid and i love both.
im too scared/shy to get into tanking but as i love cats i ve always wondered what feral is like as the last time i played feral was around wotlkish. funny enough i never really bothered to try feral out ever since as i focused on healing and im not too familiar with melee classes.
but man, yeah so as i thought its just garbage, too bad. i need more kitties in my m+ runs. hope blizzard shows some love to them in shadowlands.
To be fair, I’m happy Feral is not a strong melee spec, because when you think about it, Melee specs are dominating WoW like crazy! both in PVP and PVE, as a caster I want this to be stopped, if they are going to buff Feral then they must buff another caster spec, like Shadow priest or Affliction warlock. I hate how Blizzard making Melee specs living like kings in m+
feral was op so long they deserved those nerfs but i’m sure wow’s golden boi will be brought back to op sooner or later though as the op why play a giant animal when you can be righteous knight of the light also our class armors are cooler you’ll never see those as a druid
Plus, you paladins are using the same exact transmogs, they looks nice but not unique , there is no way a Plate armor beats a Leather armor, not in million years.
