Druid or shaman?

Im looking for a alt.
Currently im raiding with a mage, wich I love; but im in desperate need of an alt where I can fill more roles and switch thing up a little.

So im either going for a druid or a shaman .
Anyone care to explain the pros/cons between elemental and Balance?

I love both enchantment/ferral.
Resto shammies and droods are also kinda neat, except I struggle a little with healing as a druid without going OOM.
Guardian-specc is also amazing, although its a little booring, it sure is cool to be able to tank as well.

I dont mind if shaman is in a bad state atm

Have you decided what Race you want to play, or are you willing to let the Class dictate the Race…?

Might be worth looking into the Faction & Race restrictions as to what Class options you have.

Kul Tiran in the long run, so race Is not a issue.
Ofc, It would be lovely to be a class With many races aviable if I get bored, but both shaman and druid are far between when it comes to New races

My approach to creating any Class, unfortunately, is ‘personal choice’.

I stopped playing Druid, but the one I did have was Worgen; my Shaman, while being my Guild Master, is a Dwarf.

I would recommend using L110 trials for as many combinations as the Faction you want to play allows, to assist you.

I don’t recall Kul Tiran Shaman being an option, certainly at release.

Druids = master race = nuff said.

BUT also …

Shaman dwarf = one of the very best race/class combo’s ever.

Soooo your answer is BOTH and switch between the two depending on rested exp bar.

Only in so much as they require more Mastery (to play) than I have tolerance for.

I would go druid if you like tanking or damage Panda brother
Shaman if you prefer to be a team player.

How is shaman more a «team» class?
The more abilities to help comrades, the better!
(Love bards in other games)

Reasons to go druid:
Tanking, Range dps, Melee dps, Healing, Stealth.
Travel form might herb farming easier and is instant.

Reasons for Shaman:
Self ressurection, Farsight, healing wave, Elemental summons, Spirit Summons, Recall.

The pro and con of elemental and balance.
The specc’s mostly play the same.
With he only noteworth difference i seen is chainlighting is instantly hiting a group of enemies where starfall is your classic bombard area spell.
I also believe elemental give a fire elemental summon(basicly a turrert)

My personal opion is that shamans are discount druids.
In terms of practicality:
Druids can do everything.
Shamans can do most things.

All healers go oom this patch.

By reading your post you seem to be 0.5% more interesting in druids(you mention it more)
So i think you subconsciously already picked druid.
Given how easy wow is tho.
I would suggest you make both and level them.
Then play the one you find most interesting the most.

Iron Dwarf is the best. Im having fun to level one. And the totems like anvil. Woe!

Enchantment is a profession not a shaman spec.

Also you know Kul Tiran won’t be out with 8.1?

I love playing shaman, but druids are fun aswell. With druid u can fill any role needed, so maybe pick that one? Or just lvl both and then decide which one u prefer :slight_smile:

I don’t have a favorite, I find both just as fun to play.
Solo or in groups I feel they just fit.
Or if I should say it differently - I think the shaman is really fun, while I find the druid stabile to play with.

To make the smart choice I think you need numbers, but I don’t have them, so cant give any :slight_smile:
But as Malaficus said: Make one of each, play both of them and see which one you keep loggin into :slight_smile:

I think you are right . The biggest con right now is no races I enjoy at the Alliance-side are able to be druid.
My current druid is a worgen, and I cant stand them.
I only play male characters, and Night Elfs waists just bother me way too mutch, lol.

Even if Im mostly transformed in some kind of form, I cant Get over the fact I am playing the two races I dislike the most in-game.

Even though I love shaman class fantasy, I guess I have made up my mind and will go druid.

Hey man I got you. I played both recently and decided to main shaman based on playstyle.
Both classes can peform range and melee dps and both can heal (druid has tank ofc as well, but won’t compare as shaman can’t tank) as you may already know.
Now that being said the playstyle bases down to this, druid has that dots and hots playstyle, good at sustain dmg and healing.
Shaman is more direct in its damage and healing, rng procs give you that spikey, bursty dmg, good crit and mastery give you that big burst healing.

Do you want dots, hots and sustain or direct and burst?
