Druid patch 10.2 with no new druid race or race/class combos?

So a proper Emerald dream patch, but it feel odd to not have no new druid race class combos or even a druidic based allied race.

Examples I expected:
Race-Class Combos:

  1. Panda Druids - historically friendly with night elves and recently close to trolls, good nature life and loving, they’d be good obvious choices to expand class to.
  2. Void/blood/nightborne elf druids - more elven druidic classes - so weird that druidism is elven based, but why only arcane love is inherited from night elves, while nature love stops at elven forests but no druid class?
    a) void elf druids - void elves studying void with nature and have been helping night elf druids with the nightmare and elmentalists - given how good void is with both.
    b) Nightborne druids - Farodin, Night eyes and others from Val’Sharah continue helping the Nightborne with new Arcan’dor powers of balance - expanding balance druid lore and opening more night elf lore tot he horde.
    c) Blood elf druids - close friendship with ngihtborne, blood elf botanists finally take the the leap forward, bolstered by new knowledge and determined to remove the blighted dead scar from their forest in Eversong.
  3. Draenei, Lightforged and Mag’har druidism - Night elven cenarion expedition returns from Draenor after years of studying the Botanni, at one point they were nearly wiped out in a resurgence of the overgrowth in Tanaan, the elves trained the local draenei, lightforged and orcs as only togehter with this knowledge good they overcome and escape.
  4. Vulpera druids
  5. Gnome and Mecha-gnome druids - what started as an attempt to simulate nature entirely with machines evolved into a bio-mechanical symbiosis. When the cenarion circle have to intervene to save the gnomes, learning druidism to cope was the only way to save some of these gnomes from dying from the experimentation.
    feral forms are animal mech suits, however they excel at balance and resto druidism.
    6 - new alliance race druids [ panda, void elf, draenei, lightforged, gnome, mecha gnome] 5 new horde ones [panda, nightborne, blood elf, mag’har, vulpera]

If they want, humans can learn Drust druidism or worgen druidism. Orcs can learn from Mag’har. - however I’m hesitant for orc druidism because of the Botanni hate - really don’t see orcs liking to turn to plants or caring for plants - they seem the most anti nature class. If you ask me, I’d leave humans, forsaken, orcs and gnomes out of druidism. I’d leave mecha-gnomes in for the fun mechanical nature factor, and Draenei/lightforged in because they’ve always been good at working with nature and trying to understand rather than destroy the enemy first, ask questions later

Potential New Race:

  1. a) Were Fae: Werewolf, werebears, werecats (think Saberon), and Werebirds (Harpies) are night elven fae people who’d been sealed away in the emerald dream by Malfurion when their worgen transformation had been unstable. They started returning to the waking world in the forests of Val’sharah during the legion attack where the scythe of elune has been used to restore their sanity. Turns out wolves were not the Goldrinn sect were not the only ones. Turns out Ralaar Fangfire had inspired other disciples who had repeated his efforts with other wild gods including Ursoc (bear), Avianna (bird) and Ashamane (cat). MAlfurion had sealed them all in the dream, but now they return.
    Classes: Druid, warrior, rogue, shaman, priest, hunter, mage, monk warlock
    Humanoid form: Night elf with various animal customisations including antlers, leafy or normal hair, gnarled thorn or normal hands - you can choose only one of the following faun legs or normal legs, winged arms or normal arms.
    Were form: You can choose one of worgen (night elf version), werebear, werecat or harpy

  2. b) San’layn Vampire - Horde get Vampire - San’layn race with a racial flight form. Druid class however has vampiric animal forms learnt from the drust. After their defeat in BFA, they travel to Drustvar to regain their strength and power delving deeper into death magic twist of nature picked up from the Drust, it’s here they encounter Bwonsamdand are led to Bolvar who helps them stablise and sends them to Calia to help with the undead cause.
    Classes: All classes except for DHs, and Paladin.

Alternatives:

  1. Cenarions - your quadraped race of Keepers and Dryads.

  2. Sylvar - become available in two flavours (night elf flavour - alliance, troll flavour horde)

  3. Drust race.

I think a lot will agree with you and tbh emerald dream should be an expac not a patch, this feels all rather sad tbh.

You need abnormal concepts like the vampiric drust san’layn druids as well as quirky unusual atypical ones with some comic relief - hence the mecha gnome one.

I felt mecha gnome was a bet candidate cos their lore allowed you to go the full nature simulation. Essentially they designed animal mech suits they pilot as “druids”… they’re essnetially mechanical animals robots. but have access to the whole class as is the case with kul’tiran tidesage who in the lore only deal with water elemental magic, but have access to the whole class.

There can be provision for mecha gnome druids doing the magical compoenent. Resto druidsm can come from botany study and discovering nature magic that way, but obviously messing it up a bit in their mechanisation rpocess and needing elven druids who use their knowledge of nature and machines from their pre-sundering era to help the mmecha gnomes gainstability. They also teach them enough to keep themselvess fe, so you ahve mecah gnoems who have a lore reason to be able to do resto druidsm and balance druidsm.

They could also go druidism via the balance angle, the balance between arcane and nature is the fundamental axis of night elf druidism, born out of an age that all the night elf male mages became druids after the sundeirng, and the blance between arcanandnaturewas fundamental in magic revision to prevent the mistakes of the past and eliminate magical addiction.,

Gnomes with an aptittude ofr magic coudl find this fascination and approach druidism fromthis angle… it is the angle that Nightbonre would be approaching duridsm, having teh Arcan’dor as the basis of their existence and survival , maintaining the balance the night elves have learnt, especially if they’r egoing to carry on intenseive arcane usage without falling out of balance, youc an actually extrpoalte that druidism , especially balane druidism becomes something ALL nightborne need to learn and master for survival.

This would theoretically catapult druidsm to a top tier class alongside magecraft amongst Nightborne and burst open the horde’s access to night elven particiaption through the Nightborne that have druidism become so fundamental to them, and of course the restoration of Eluinsm.

After all, what is the advantage of having Night elves on the horde if you can’t get the horde half of the playerbase engaged with night elf fantasy through the nightborne race like they were in WC3 when nightelves were neither alliance nor horde.

You don’t want such a big race to have stories only accessible by one faction, you want issues like Elune and druidism as well as highborne magecraft and night elven civilization to be things enjoyed by all your players…because traditionally, these core aspects of the night elves belonged neither to the horde nor alliance but seemed to go alliance when night elves went alliance, but now have a chance to return to both factions via the Nightborne. Keeping the nightborne for the sole purpose of beiing blood elf BFF sidekicks seems an utter waste.

Back on topic however I prefer the Mecha gnomes to come about druidsm via mecahnised animal machines they pilot and some botany. Botany is the angle Blood elves should get into Druidism as it’s already used in TBC the Botanica and we see treant tenders in Quel’thalas anyway. Nightborne already have the Arcan’dor lore, and have druids like Farodin and the Val’Sharahns who helped - balance is their part and an essential part of their survival. Void elves have the excuse of helping deal with the void in the nightmare and also the elemental attacks of the primalists - something the void has always been good at - druidic augmentation makes perfect sense.

Elven druidism is the heart of the class, it really should have been mage, priest and druid as the essential trio or core trio of all elven classes as it’s magic of the arcane, magic of the dviine and magic of nature - the 3 things elves in warcraft love a lot. They love magic. Arcane magic obviously (I mean the night elves were born from it and look how far they’ve gone with it), all elves love forests, not just night elves - high elves moved into a massive forest land to call home, have trants, weather control and wood elf like farstriders too as welll as botanists. - and lest you forget that even befor ethe Arcan’dor, Suramar was full of gardens and the Nighthold has an entire nature magic section too.

I really like how you formatted and presented your post , i hope one day they will do justice and do a whole emerald dream expac.

They have said they will open all race/class combinations and i expect it to happen sooner or later.

It doesn’t matter.

They’re not that anti nature since they can be shamans who use the elements which are part of nature.

What’s more, Rala Wildheart exists and she seems to be an orc druid.

I hope we’ll see more druid races in 10.2.5 or 10.2.7. Some of the new druid forms look very Vulpera and Panda like, so I’m betting on those 2 races being able to become druids eventually.

They could have given Shamanism to almost every player race because of the expansion, due to the primalists many races, and they went with Warlock which doesn’t make sense for some and in DF…

Why would they go for Druid now?

This is why Pandaren shouldn’t be Druids either. We’d also do oil spills in the emerald dream, but it’d be cooking oil.

They’re coming. It’s just a matter of time. I wouldn’t be surprised if they saved that feature for 10.2.5 or 10.2.7.

Pandaren in the dream:

  1. Stir-fried primordial tiger steak with elder roots, with rice
  2. Diced feathered raptor flanks in chili sauce, with rice
  3. Mushroom soup with faerie dragon wing dust and bread
  4. Peking Kun’lai Duck

Imagine the size of that wok. You see so much beautiful nature, I see so many wonderful dishes.

Heck, I worry if Pandaren could be Druids one might try to eat the other.

No new druid races really a missed opportunity.

I’d rather see some general improvements to druid specs than selling out the druid theme to all races ingame. I’m not a fan of ruining lore even further by crossing the boundaries of what makes sense class-wise.

I want to be a dwarf druid. Don’t care about the lore, don’t care about the forms, just want the OP racial.

That is an excellent point. Unless we are going to have actual shaman based conent in the next expac too

The druids would be the best cooks by far and brewers, they’d know all the secret plants, and animal products to get that perfect flavour.

So will Pandaren in short order, and then we’ll proceed to absolutely stomp you shortly after.
