Druid vs Priest

Hello,

I am considering to make a new alt (potentially future main) since I got a bit bored of shaman. Recently I leveled hunter(bought 229 ilvl gear and did some of ZM) and it was fun experience, but thebiggest flaw hunter has its DPS only class so you’re a bit restricted.

I like to have more options because I dont like to switch a lot between characters and I like to do everything on one character.

The classes I am interested to try out are Priest and Druid. I like to be on the range and do DPS or heal. That’s why I am considering thsese two classes (shadow/holy priest and balance/resto druid). Good thing about druid is that you can also tank, but I am not sure how much I will bother with that (I am too anxious to try it, maybe in the open world for easier doing stuff or for TW events).

So which one is more simpler, fun, easier to pick up? Which one you would recommend to someone who’s casual player with not a lot of experience in the game? Which one is better option for old/new content, open world, transmoging, etc.? Also since both of my characters are Alliance, should I consider to make it on Horde side with all these changes? I am splited between Tauren and Night Elf as well

I know this is all individual, but would like to hear from more experienced players few thoughts about these classes.

Thank you for the answers.

In my opinion Druid is better than priest lore wise and playing wise as well, they can be all specs and they are really fun to play and fairly easy to learn, i have been leveling a Balance druid and i recommend it.

If you’re more of a dps I recommend Boomkin, for healing Holy, if you plan on keys.

Shadow suffers from a very clunky AoE rotation that I dislike, and Resto druid is better for raids as it prefers dmg intake you can prepare for (is difficult for them to burst heal, they mostly use HoT’s).

That, and the two specs I recommend are also easy to pick up. Not to mention these might get you a good place in groups as well as they are fairly strong currently. :slightly_smiling_face:

Druid is amazing for open world because you can switch to tank for situations where you’re struggling to solo otherwise. It’s also good for old content because balance has incredible range (and you’ll be able to extend it further in DF if the talents stay the same).

I don’t heal, so I can’t comment on that side of things, but I know druid is considered the easiest healer to pick up, even if it isn’t currently (or often) the strongest.

Druid. They can literally do all 4 roles.

when i first started wow i was fascinated with Druid and also because back then walking from place to place tiring without a speed boost. Druid was the dream. it became my main for a while until i switched to Hunter.

try both and see what works best.

Thank you for the answers. Guess I will go for druid for more versatile gameplay. Maybe also pick up horde side (not decided yet) so I can unlock allied races and have at least one playable character on each side.

I like both classes Restration Druid and Priest.Paladin can also tank/heal/damage.
Priest is my favourite class for years.
If we are talking about Shadowlands the Covenant ability is very important as well.
I don’t know what will happen in Dragonflight.
Well ye i can’t help much.It is like “Play and see which one suits you best”.
