Druids in (classic)TBC

Since we now know we have TBC servers inc. can anyone tell me how druids were back then? I started in WotLK so i can’t judge.
I know resto was very good but i don’t want to pick a druid not being able to play what i want (Feral, dps and tank) because orther specs are much better/more wanted in teams.
I want to focus mainly on arena and secondary on bg’s and raiding, playing feral dps for arena/bg and feral tank for raiding/dungeons/WSG, is this viable?

Worse, but still fun. To me, being 33 today and having played WoW since 2004-2013 (i quit during Pandaria, came back to Shadowlands. I used to be a prominent face on the Druid Forums back in the day on my old Druid Athinira), TBC was the most fun expansion IMO.

Druids still weren’t main tank material in raids, although both them and Paladins got significant buffs from vanilla to tanking. But a lot of things we’re improved. Tanking was still fun, resto was fun, the instances were good, the raids were good. And Boomkinning was also really fun back then. I used to even do Boomkin tanking in heroics (5 man) :slightly_smiling_face: Offgearing a boomkin tanking set with armor rings etc. were special.

We also got Flight Form before everyone else got normal flying (level 68), and didn’t have to pay to learn flying.

I’f you’re in it for the cutting edge of raiding, you’ll prob have to stick to resto or balance. But if you’re just a casual player, i honestly think you’ll have a lot of fun in TBC as a druid. It was a great expansion.

I played alot in that time i woud say awesome, telling from aspect of resto druid.
In 2v2, combined with good warrior specialy, if you play good you can bring anyone under your boot and teach him his place. At least to win games it was all about skills not luck like in retail when those low skill hyperburst classes kill you in blink of eye.
TBC s1 and s2 are best seasons for RDruid so far

As I remember it, a Bear (off)tank was really popular in both Serpentshine & Black Temple raids, and also in Heroics (the larger pulls)
Even tho our swipe only worked in a (small) cone (which made many Bears go Cat in start of Northrend expac), our starters with Moonfire, wrath etc, made our aggro kinda great back then
Ooh, and you will need to farm/grind two things, ‘‘Badge of Tenacity’’, a belt, and Cenarion Circle rep (both classic & TBC) for your ‘‘main weapon’’.
I also do think it was during TBC expac, that feral’s really was Flavor of the Month in arenas, but might have been a bit later, but bottom line, answer is YES!

Actually it was Resto. Resto Druid + Arms Warriors was a really popular arena combo

If you want some Feral PvP, the Nerf Druids video series by Azgaz was some of the best Druid movies out there. 5 and 6 was from TBC, but the rest was funny and good as well.

Nerf Druids 5
Nerf Druids 6

If you want some truth and not just people romanticizing over their past with nostalgia goggles then this is the truth:

Restoration Druid was excellent in Arena (as you said).
Feral (and Moonkin) was trash in Arena.

The only viable Feral comp is afaik Rogue/Feral.

Can’t answer on the PvE viability of Feral DPS / Tanking. Just go look at some youtube video from someone who seems knowledgeable (someone with recent unofficial server experience).
