I’ve been leveling an alt in Classic, and to be honest, I got tired of it. So I decided to buy dungeon boosts for in-game gold. As most people know, the boosting industry is largely controlled by what can be called a “mafia,” which most people probably also realize sells gold. After spending maybe 2–3k gold on this, I got banned for RMT. I have no reason to buy gold and never have. I love playing the auction house, and that provides more than I need. So the only thing I can think of that triggered this is trading with these people. Most of the time, I was giving them gold for boosts, but on a few occasions, they also traded gold back to me when the boost didn’t go as planned or had to be canceled. It’s now been almost two days since I submitted an appeal, and I haven’t even received a worthless automated response yet.
Ban discussions aren’t allowed on the forums.
As you’ve concluded, it cannot be automated as it is taking time to get back to you by a human GM who then also reviews your case at once and answers you with a templated response. While this may not make a difference to you, it drastically cuts down on answer times overall on similar inquiries.
It is then weird you came to the wrong conclusion. After all, why wouldn’t they just give you an instant auto response if it were really automated?
So, you knowingly dealt with illegal organisations and are part of the problem.
Chances are, they traded you back illegal gold making you complicit into a gold laundering scheme. Which is indeed bannable here.
Ergo, the ban is justified and stands. You may still wait at the appeal and try again after that but it’s unlikely that it will be overturned as you’ve also noted yourself, you were indeed complicit.
Good luck.
You’re making massive leaps in logic here.
1. Buying a dungeon boost for in-game gold is not against the TOS.
This has been clarified multiple times by Blizzard. What matters is how the gold is sourced and whether real-money trading (RMT) is involved. If you’re accusing players of being “complicit” just because they unknowingly interacted with a shady group, then by that logic, anyone buying anything on the Auction House could be banned because they might’ve indirectly touched “dirty” gold.
2. Saying I “knowingly dealt with illegal organisations” is a baseless accusation.
Knowing that some boosting communities have shady sides does not mean everyone in them is automatically guilty. You don’t walk into a store, buy a product, and assume you’re now complicit in every bad thing the company has ever done.
3. The gold being returned after a failed service is part of basic transaction etiquette.
If you’re claiming that’s “laundering,” then literally any in-game refund is now suspicious? That’s a ridiculous stretch.
4. If Blizzard believes a ban is justified, then they should show real evidence.
I’ll accept their conclusion if that’s the case — but what you’re doing here is just making assumptions based on fragments, not facts.
5. The entire tone of your post screams bias and moral superiority.
You’re not a Blizzard investigator. You’re not privy to the logs. You’re just inserting your opinion into a case you clearly don’t understand and treating it as fact. That’s not helping anyone — it’s just muddying the discussion.
6. Yes, I submitted an appeal — because I trust the actual GMs to review evidence, not people playing internet detective.
Your “ergo, the ban is justified and stands” line reads like you’re delivering a court verdict. You’re not. You’ve constructed a narrative based on assumptions, ignored nuance, and decided that anyone caught in the gray areas deserves punishment.
Finally got my great not at all copy pasted response from a “GM”. I’m incorrectly banned for RMT, yet the “GM” responded with this:
"Greetings
Thanks for taking the time to get in touch with us and I hope that you are well.
We just received your ticket regarding the recent action on your World of Warcraft game license. Having looked into this, I’m sorry to say that the decision to temporarily suspend your game license due to inappropriate communication was correct. As a result, the action will not be overturned."
The representative just copy pasted an answer about innappropriate communication, thats not what i’m banned for. So the representative has not read my ticket, has not even looked what the case is about.
Do you call this customer service?
The forum is not the appropriate place for ban discussions/appeals. Since you have received a reply to your appeal, there’s nothing else that can be done.
