Dungeon Deserter

Why does Dungeon Deserter apply if you’ve been kicked from the dungeon?

This completely ruins the experience. Especially if you’re not very good at dps/healing/tanking and get kicked for it.

Round of applause Blizz…

It’s to stop people joining, deciding they don’t want to play the dungeon then afking until they are kicked.

If you get past the first boss, you won’t receive this penalty for being kicked.

However, if you feel that you’re being removed from PUGs for poor performance, whilst that’s unfortunate, it may well be an opportunity to improve & research your class.

It’s wrong at any point to give players the power to remove another player and give them a 30minute debuff. Regardless of whether they are good or not.

No one should be penalized by the system for a kick.

If someone joins every game and afks every game, then they will be kicked every game. There is no need to give a debuff.

The issue here was simple, I accidently qued as a healer without realising and continued into the dungeon as a DPS. No one mentioned it, no one asked me why i’m not healing. Just got kicked and got the debuff. It may well be an error on my part but it’s ridiculous to penalize for something so miniscule.

It’s Blizzard’s way of telling “Git gud or stop playing - and keep pay your sub!”

I don’t really see this as an issue, but you’re welcome to have a different opinion.

The reason it is an issue is because an innocent mistake can ruin 30 minutes of game time for a casual player which might be all someone gets time for in a day.

The best thing to do would be to remove the debuff for players that are kicked. If a player is regularly kicked then blizzard should implement a system whereby that player is reviewed following a certain number of kicks. This way it will weed out any horrible players.

Sadly the kick system gives no one the chance to rectify an issue they are making. This should be the first port of call prior to a kick.

30 minutes isn’t huge, especially for dps. It’s the normal wait time to find a party. XD Pugging will always, always be miserable. Blizz has found a pretty solid balance of misery. The only advice that can help is… stop pugging. Find a guild, find a community. Your life in the game will immediately become better.

Or the obvious one - play a tank. Nobody ever kicks the tank.

Being a vulpera is enough of a reason to kick you ngl.

I had the same issue yesterday. Went to a dungeon with what I would call a “kid with attention issues” and I decided to ignore his comments towards the tank, as he made a mistake, etc…

Last boss, out of nowhere in the middle of the fight I’ve got kicked from the dungeon, no reason whatsoever, no mistake… I check the chat and in the middle of the fight he asked for food (as I was on my mage), obviously I was in the middle of the fight checking mechanics than anything else and I’ve got kicked out for that. I did ask the guy who they have kicked me and his answer was: Because I can…

I did send a complaint to blizzard and to be honest, logged off until today as I was very mad as Blizzard won’t make an effort to check the logs and ban people like that kid but I was very pissed off so I get your frustration on this one.

There are Very very VERY few dungeons where you can make big enough mistakes to warrent a kick tho  Most dungeons have a boss within 2-5 min. So i dono how you managd to get kicked that fast.

Rude!

I believe the deserter debuff has its merit. Been a lot of times where someone is being rude, not doing their role, or just afking. I don’t think it’d be fair to let people like this queue straight after with no punishment.

If you make a mistake, say so, don’t just stay silent, or ask if you did something wrong.

Its a system not without its flaws though. Would be nice if there was some sort of review system. But if 3 out of 4 players decide to kick you what leg do you have to stand on really. Just queue for a BG or pick some flowers in the mean time.

Well that’s the problem, scrubs are able to kick you THAT FAST.

Vhoox, sorry to hear that. It’s a poor system.

I don’t think it should apply when it’s a scenario of 4 stack vote kicking their 5th, i’ve never been in a scenario in any online game ever where i’ve ever had fun playing with a 4 stack, i can only imagine how bad it would be for a new player in a dungeon in wow.

This ^^ Imagine being a new player trying to get into the game.

Hey there Zakia, I understand your problem I have had this a few times myself.
Best thing to do in these cases is to have 1 person you know could be friends list or guild to join you in doing dungeons this way you have always 1 person that votes no making sure the vote fails. + you get to piss off the person that wants to kick you

I remember my first kick, back in wotlk.

A group of people kicked me out of Trial of the Champion after we had a wipe and blamed me for it because I had low gear score. Traumatic.

my opinion but you should never get a deserter penalty for been kicked only if you leave the dungeon/raid yourself.
