Dungeon design suggestion for Shadowlands

Developers please don’t make dungeons like Tol Dagor and Waycrest Manor anymore. Bosses are fine, mobs are fine, but its obvious that you are having problems with multi level building or Z-axis in general. Tight corridors that mess up your camera angles and obscure your vision is not something I enjoy. Like nameplates of enemies from level below stacking in between nameplates of enemies I fight, while mobs run away trough walls in tight corridors and abilities that pull trough walls. Years and years of experience has showed you that this doesn’t work and yet here we are. Please for the love of god, no vertical dungeons and raids with tight hole-ways. No one has ever said in WoW, that low ceiling tight room was really fun to play in.

So far we only have the names of them. Fingers crossed they will be amazing.

New Dungeons and Raid

Shadowlands will launch with 8 dungeons in addition to Torghast, Tower of the Damned—4 leveling dungeons and 4 max-level dungeons.

Leveling dungeons:

  • The Necrotic Wake
  • Theater of Pain
  • Mists of Tirna Scithe
  • Halls of Atonement

Maximum-level dungeons:

  • Spires of Ascension
  • Plaguefall
  • The Other Side
  • Sanguine Depths

Castle Nathria, the first raid in Shadowlands, is a 10-boss raid set in Revendreth and ruled over by a Venthyr lord.

A cool dungeons design i would like to see is a dungeon like freehold but the route is totally different, i mean for example after the bridge of the first boss, after the area wich give you the 2nd boss of Freehold, you goes upstair and not directly to the 2nd boss.

You know the fact that a dungeons have not 1 obvious choice we take when we make our route with Method Dungeon Tools but like a " ok this week beacause of affix we change totally the way we make the dungeons

Best dungeon for me in BFA is Motherload. Open space, lots of paths and ability to chose. I also like Underrot and Shrine of the Storm. In Legion Eye of Azhara, Darkheart Thicket, Halls of Valor and Neltharion Lair were fun.
Just give us space and room to play in, rest of the stuff you pretty much are nailing down.
PS: Good thing is that you are naming spells but what they do and not some random words. Like healing spell by mob has mending in it name which is nice. So don’t change that I would not mind if all healing spells by mobs in all of dungeons were named the same.

In Shadowlands they are not only going to be tight they are also going to be dripping wet.

I dont mind wm but tol dagor can burn kn a fire. Only problem i have with wm is the randomness of which path u get, that shouldnt be a thing in a timed instance.

But in all seriousness, i think i have ran WM only twice… like ever… On my hunter… That’s ranged :sob:

You see the only dungeon I truly hate for the thing you have stated is Tol Dagor, should probably be taken as an example of dungeon design to avoid.

WM on the other hand is not annoying per se, is just with some affix combo it because super annoying to play. WM with little bigger space would be fine in my opinion.

But ofc open space dungeon imo are way better. FH, ML, AD.

one of the best dungeon ever made imo, its amazing to have multiple paths and that creepy goostly feeling!

improve, adapt, overcome…
