Dungeon Scaling

First off apologies if this has been answered before but i’m having trouble finding an answer.

Can anyone tell me, with the new dungeon system now scaling (for example deadmines is 15-60), is there a way to go into it with its original level intent? Does entering on foot make a difference instead of dungeon finder?

My reasoning behind this is Ive created a new character that im chilling out on leveling and wanted to try solo some dungeons for gear. Im not using any heirlooms or anything as I want to enjoy it as though its a new account etc to give myself some challenges.

If I cant stop the dungeons scaling I wont be able to solo them until Im over 60 which would suck.

TIA, Brownbeard

Don’t think you can tbh. every vanilla dungeon i enter are scaled to 60 regardless.

At lower lvl (below 60) they should scale to your lvl. Up until a year ago (dunno exactly anymore), it was possible to solo quite some of them. Then they were made harder again.
But it seems to me they were nerfed again; as i did some with a lvl 76-80 tank yesterday and it was too easy.

Will run to WC with a lvl 19 to see what happens later today. Will report back (if i dont forget ;p)

Ok, went to WC with a lvl 19 druid (Cripples-spinebreaker). The char was a sort of twink 2 years ago, but since her gear was squished, its basically blue geared.

It is not as easy as it was over a year ago. I could still solo it, but it took a long time to down mobs and specially bosses. Healing spec, sometimes in bear, depending on physical damage or not. And constantly keeping hots up, sometimes using swiftmend aswell.

Mobs scaled to lvl 18 or 19.

So it is still possible for some dgs to solo them, but not with all classes and not all dgs, depending on fight mechanics. Ofc it would be a lot easier with a real twink i presume.

I think with the hunter you might get a long ways… healing your pet which is tanking for you. If it dies you prolly die fast too ;]

If you want some particular gear, it is prolly a lot easier to ask a friend, or maybe even a stranger for help with a > lvl 60 char.
But give it a try… any vanilla dg will scale to your lvl and will drop for your lvl ;]

Hope this helped ;]

I find it incredibly stupid that the lowbie dungeons scale to level 60, but you can’t queue for them after their ‘normal’ bracket. I mean, what genius thought this up and more importantly, what was the point?

eerr, the point was, if i remember correct, that ppl were complaining they lvld through zones too fast to complete all the quests.
So B introduced scaling and ppl can now complete two zones or smth, b4 they have to go to BC or LK.

Why this was expanded to dgs also… i dont know. They probably thought it would limit wait time. Dunno if it does really. Logic suggests that it will. Then again, if ppl lvl through faster, then that negates it. So it may not differ wrt wait times.

Imo all this undermines the game.

And the argument that they could not complete a zone, unless being too high lvl and therefor boring, falls flat aswell. Now it is ALL boring, bs i cannot go to a challenging zone, bc it all scales to the same boring thing.
And ppl could stop xp… if they wanted to complete zones with some challenge.

But it is here and im afraid it wont be reversed anytime soon.

It makes perfect sense. Vanilla quest zones scale 20-60 so why would the dungeons not.

Because you can’t queue. Whatever you may think about LFD, do you honestly think that you could get a group together for, say, Deadmines at level 44?

all dungeons scale to different amounts
all vanilla dungs scale to 60 only
bc to like 80 only

etc

Actually I think you can, maybe not specific?

But I do remember doing lfg deadmines on a level 40 alt, don’t remember how but it is possible…somehow.

as for loot it drops ur levels scaled loot, u can trade but that doesnt change the levels etc

I know technically it is possible, but think, what are people more likely to do, join your group for a level 40 DM run or just queue to a dungeon that’s queueable?

And in fact, why would you try make a level 40 group for DM anyway? I’m pretty sure most people would just queue up. There isn’t anything really that special in them apart from a few cosmetics.

No, they scale to your lvl.
The only reason you cannot que for an LK dg as a lvl 20 is bc it is gated like that.

You mean you cant queue a specific dg?
I agree then. Should be possible.
Also wondering now if you still get the option at lvl70 or 80 etc to do hc.
Have to check that.

Actually they don’t, they scale from their old level to 60. So Badlands is still minimum level 40 but now scales up to 60.

Ah, I just checked on my level 40 and you can queue for the specific dungeons. I’m certain last time I tried I couldn’t. Oh well, lol, I guess it’s me that’s stupid… xD

U r right.
Just checked too on a lvl 80. Nice point that is btw… i can que for randoms of 4 expansions; bc, lk, cata and panda (limited)

And indeed there is an option for specifics and there you can also select the hcs.

Thank you everyone for your responses, I know what I was trying to do was a bit of a niche thing it was just something different as I like to lvl alts different ways to keep it fresh. It was also to kinda make my old gold I was going to run a few transmog farms at say lvl 40 into DM. There are other methods I suppose for now, but I dont understand why you cant just right click on your portrait and set the dungeon to “Legacy Mode” or something and run the content at the lvl it was orginally made for, It cant be that hard to implement when they already have Normal and HC settings etc.

Nevermind =)
