So I am a healer and I decide to do a dungeon on NORMAL. I need first boss for gear and tank wants to skip so I get kicked and get leaver debuff. How is this fair? This is very bad game design tbh. Skipping should not be allowed and especially if even 1 player needs loot from a boss. This needs to be patched asap
Normal Dungeon gear is completely useless once you reach max level. You’ll likely even replace the item before you get to max level depending on which slot it’s in.
You should look at it from the bright side instead, you get more XP/hour by the bosses being skippable.
Gear is hard to come by as it is, I dont want to skip when signing up for a random dungeon, I want to complete the whole dungeon, skipping is an exploit and should not be condoned.
Visit the AH, you’ll get better items for cheap than from normal dungeons.
It’s “hard” to come by when you’re in 200+ item level. Before that you get showered in items my friend.
Not killing bosses has been a part of the game forever, it’s not an exploit.
All of the gear you will get before you level cap will be replaced the second you level, since you can equip full crafted ilvl 151 that cost less than 100g per slot.
First we skip content. And then we complain about having nothing to do. WoW community in a nutshell.
It’s crazy for being punished for playing a game the way it is meant to be played. Skipping has to stop
The gear from the boss is useless on normal, you can grab better items from the AH, from a WQ, or even from the mission table for a fraction of the effort. The XP they grant also pales in comparison to finishing the dungeon much faster, and getting into the next.
If it weren’t meant to be skippable, it simply wouldn’t be. Eg, you can’t skip Halkios in HoA, because the stairs are blocked until you kill it. You can’t skip any boss in DoS either, because the last boss doesn’t spawn until they’re all dead. You can’t skip neither the first or the second boss in Mists, because the way is blocked until they die. You could walk past them like you walk past the first two bosses of Plaguefall, but you can’t, because the way is blocked. If Blizzard doesn’t want you to skip a boss, they will make it unskippable. In Plaguefall, they did not.
You are defending an exploit, this should be a bannable offence
Skipping bosses is not an exploit. It’s been possible in select dungeons since the dawn of time, and as I just explained, if Blizzard didn’t want them skippable, they’d make them unskippable.
If it was meant to be skipped why even put it there in the first place?
It’s not meant to be skipped. It’s meant to be skippable. There’s a big difference. As for why? Because you don’t skip it on heroic and above, because then it is worth killing. The dungeon would look stupid without those two bosses on normal, while they’re there on heroic and above.
Normals are for leveling, and for leveling, the goal, for most, is to get it out of the way as soon as possible. So if something can be skipped, it will be skipped, unless it’s more beneficial to kill it - which is not the case for the first two bosses in Plaguefall.
But again, why do you even want to kill it? The gear from it is completely useless, as you can buy better from the AH, from the gold you get from completing a random dungeon. The XP is trash, you get more xp / hour by finishing faster.
If you think skipping is an exploit, let me ask you this: do you also clear all trash in the dungeon? No? Of course not. Bosses are no different. If it’s not worth killing, and you don’t have to kill it, why bother with them?
Because I enjoy healing in boss fights and want to practice. But why is irrelevant when you sign up to a random dungeon you sign up for ALL the bosses.
It is also very annoying dying and not having a clear path to run back to your body when skipping trash mobs.
Go do heroic then, or m0. M0 has the advantage of being able to see mythic-only abilities too, something you won’t be able to practice on normal or heroic.
You might, the majority of people sign up for normals for two reasons:
- Get a calling done, which requires the last boss only.
- For leveling, which favours finishing fast.
Skipping is not an exploit.
Level to 60, and do all the cov campaigns (9 chapters), and you will have 190+ ilvl, enough to jump into mythics and keys. Normal dungeons just don’t count for gear. People mostly do them to get the 51k exp for completing it.
Skipping bosses ruins the dungeon experience for all involved. How will people learn how to do mythics properly if people just skip bosses?
Defending skipping is completely outrageous!
Walking around a boss isn’t an exploit.
I have a modicum of sympathy for your problem but the way you go about addressing it would have me clicking “accept” to hoof you out of the group too.
And to answer your question in the last post. People will learn to do mythics by doing mythics. The mechanics on normal are mostly missing or completely unimpactful anyway.
If the majority went along, then it clearly did not ruin the experience for everyone involved.
They learn it on mythic 0, where you can see the mechanics. On normals, some of the mechanics don’t even exist, and some you don’t see, because the boss dies so fast.
I hope the devs make unskip-able mobs and bosses in Shadowlands dungeons and the next expansion
There are unskippable bosses, in fact, most of them are. Two bosses in Plaguefall are the only ones people skip, as far as I know, and only on normal.
