Dungeon Specific Loot

So, I though of this, what if in your weekly vault you could pick a dungeon to try and farm a specific item, something like Ruby from Theater of Pain, instead of hoping that lady luck is on your side (which is still the case, but less RNG and maybe, a higher chance of getting the item)

I know you can just spam dungeons to get X item, but some people are more lucky then others, i’ve already done a ton of Theater for Ruby on my MW monk, took me about a month and 2 weeks for the trinket from the raid, so when it comes to that kind of items my luck is nowhere to be found.

I’m curious, what do y’all think of this? Honest feedback.

I am all for some bad luck protection for the weekly vault. I am not voting for letting the dungeons you do influencing the vault though. It would create weird problems in groups where people dont want to do dungeons since they dont want to get that dungeon added to their potential loot options.

Yea, I guess that would cause some problems.

I’d rather they get rid of the vault all together and just up the drop rates from the content you’re doing. It’s a stupid system and I’ve hated it ever since it was introduced. Hate the feeling of “having to do” my weekly 15 or kill a specific number of raid bosses just to play the lottory every wednesday.

That being said, the idea of picking a specific dungeon loot table to play the lottory with does seem favourable over the current system.

But it would have to be something you’d have to manually do at the vault itself and not by doing that dungeon over and over again because that would just lead to people crying about not wanting to do a dungeon because theres nothing in it for them.

No, I was thinking of actually picking X dungeons to have the chance of 3 loot pieces, doesn’t matter what key level, it would make it less RNG, of course with a bit of RNG in it, cus, u know, lots of loots from a dungeon.

But as someone said already, it would cause a bit of a problem, some people would spam X dungeon to get their loot whilst other dungeons (not so favorable for specific classes) wouldn’t be touched.

I was thinking the same, at the vault you could specify that eg. only Spires loot could be present at a given week to have better odds for Empyrean Ordnance trinky.

Same for bosses, where you could narrow the loot table to 2 or 3 bosses to get a weapon.

RNG remains, but instead of some 4% chance for a weapon, now you get to have say, 30%.

i’m afraid lady luck has no power here only Rngesus … now kneel and offer pray to the one true God

It really is this.

I want to be able to play as I want to play. Not feel that I have to run 10 +15’s a week for a chance at 1 item level upgrade.

And not to mention the overwhelm feeling of guilt if I don’t do 10 of them.

I want running instances to feel rewarding again, not a boring grind like everything else.

I’d rather get rid of the great vault too, and introduce bad luck protection in the form of a currency: once you have enough of it, you can buy any of the dungeon drops, at the ilevel it would drop from a +15, upgradable to max ilevel.

To avoid people decking themselves out in BiS gear within a week, there could be a seasonal cap (increasing weekly) on how much currency can be obtained. This would space out item acquisition, would allow us to target specific items, and would have no RNG involved, while keeping the dungeon drops relevant at the same time.

I actually like this idea a lot, makes it way less RNGesus and just a bit grinding which people already do.

a currency that has a cap yes we can try getting it
endwalker added one of those that capped at 450
it might be doable

it’s not a endwalker thing the expansion always have a cap of 450 for the current currency then at the end of the expansion they up it to 900 weekly cap some of the older rewards become buyable for tombstones of potics as well its a way better catch up system then this mess blizzard keeps making

Good old badge vendor used to be an immense help. You might have been unlucky but your time was still respected, so it was worth doing all those dungeons.

Its only problem indeed was that rewards were fixed in power, so it only worked to a certain threshold of ilvl. Now, if we got to use Valor for both upgrading and purchasing…

Sounds good at first but is just a bandage for the underlying problem. They should revert the change of lowered drop rated and let us have fun in the game. For the mythic raid dilemma it would realy help to just cut the Ilvl while running m+ like it is in pvp.

Higher item drop count won’t fix the major annoyance of RNG. It will still suck to run a specific dungeon 30-40 times (as opposed to 50-60 times, big win, yay?) for an item that refuses to drop.

Not if 3-4 people will get something from a dungeon. You could at least trade with your friends and this would lower the count of runs over all. Or am I too naive

Assuming they can set the appropriate loot spec.

Or, we could have both! Restoring the drop count to pre-SL levels and a currency for bad luck protection!

if we have to be honest this is what we need in retail

Well ff 14 also uses the duty roulette system and the most time consuming the duty the more tokens you generally get like the MSQ give you a lot of currency but it also takes 30 minutes so ye  of unskippable cutscenes very little is actual combat

oh that dungeon i remember
tho for cosmetics it has what retail lacks thigh high boots haha
