[Dwarf-RP]:The Highland games: An ode to the classics

Many times the over the recent storied history of Khaz Modan have the Dwarven clans quarrelled with one another. Yet while the wars of the past are over the desire to display dominance has taken on a new form. A form that will surely put the kinsmen of Khaz Modan to the ultimate test! That test…is the Highland games!

Hello everyone,
It has been a few years since the last Highland games has taken place. But it is with great pride and joy that we hope to reignite this glorious bit of Dwarven rp tradition!
On the 2nd/3rd of August at 20:00 server time, we invite you all to share in abit of Dwarven fun and compete for the honour of having your clan be recognized as the Champions of the Highland games!

Note: Non-Dwarves are welcome to spectate but the games themselves will only be available for Dwarves/Earthen and Gnomes/Mechagnomes.

The schedule is as follows:

2nd of August (Saturday):

1. Boulder Toss:
A game that’ll test your arm and your might! It doesn’t take long to understand, but a fair while to master; though we Wildhammer have never been all too keen on technique.

2. Thunder Road:
Adopted by Clan Wildhammer from their Stormpike cousins to the far north, a game of competitive team drinking! A game that was even said to have been even a favourite of Alteracs’ very own, Vanndar Stormpike. You’ll buddy up with kin, lined up opposite your opponents to create a road as long as any grand mead-hall. Upon our ever favoured word “Drink!”, you’ll race your opposing team down your line of comrades. The aim is to finish your filled mug one after another - be sure to sip quick and slap your next in line, but don’t you dare spill a drop!

3. Spitting:
A crude tavern game invented by Grahda Stormheart. It entails two challengers to go at it with their gutter-trash talk in the hopes of being the “quickest” and most creative in insulting the other. The winner usually gets bought a drink, or whatever the wager may have been.

3rd of August (Sunday):

1. Tug o’ War!
That’s right, we’re to work as a team in this one! Show off your prowess alongside your kin and hold fast - stoic and un-moving to your opponents’ struggle! Grasp hold of the large double-knotted rope, align the ‘centre’ with a marker-stone. Upon the word “Go!” you’ll pull like you’re trying to steal a wagon of ale!

2.The great barrel ride!
As dangerous as it sounds! In days of old each participant would’ve finished off their own keg, upon doing so be granted the right to participate! Each willing to participate will await at the top of the chosen hill, slope (or mountain). Upon the word “Go!” they’ll all mount their barrels and race to the bottom. Well, that’s the idea anyway…

3.THUMPER!
Taken from the head of ‘Thumper’, Thundermar’s infamous and temperamental ram. He boasted a staggering sized set of horns! Upon his death, the townsfolk claimed them for trophy and placed them upon a plaque - until Rekkr Stormheart snagged one. Believing it fitting that the boisterous beast was honoured in a more rowdy way. Filling it up with an absurd amount of ale of course! Seeing if anyone has the stones to see it all off in one go - or chunder trying! To this day, it’s been a challenging feat to finish Thumper’s Horn!

Our intention is to really capture that spirit of old and inject it with new life so that the rpers of today can embrace the heartfelt fun of the Dwarven community and we hope you will find the time to share in that fun with us.
If you have any questions you are welcome to contact both myself and Throrgar for additional information.

It will be hosted in the quaint grounds of Kirthaven as it has done in previous years, so come one - come all!

I’m very much looking forward to help host this again, it’s been too long!

… And the running joke still stands, maybe the Wildhammers will win this time?

“See ye there!”

It’s to distract the opposition during the games!

It will be a mighty test of clan strenght, wit and skill. (The Wildhammer clan dominate in two of those traits)

Highland Wildhammers are the best Wildhammers (and Dwarves in general) as everyone knows. Come by and say hi!
