Dwarf Warrior & Night Elf Hunter or NE Warrior & Dwarf Hunter?

Ahoy y’all.

I want to create both a hunter and a warrior - one will be a Night Elf whereas the other will be a Dwarf, but I am undecided on which race/class combo should I go. I guess Dwarf edges it as a warrior (and even perhaps as a hunter?), but I don’t care too much about the ‘meta’, but I still want to succeed in PvP and have fun in PvE - I’m a fairly new player, so I don’t really know what it takes to reach the very top. I know that both make sense lore-wise (both will be males, and I know how strict the NE’s used to be, but not anymore). I thought dwarves would be warriors, but I like the explorer theme for dwarves, and I guess hunters fit that storyline better? Then again, NE’s are quite fitting hunters as well. Tough choice. I should mention, that I came up with the names already - and the Night Elf one really sounds like a warrior, but fits a hunter as well.

I tried to go with the classic +/- listings, but I’ve played WoW for less than a year, so my knowledge is limited with these two - never played either one to the max level. So, I guess I’m asking those of ya with more experience - which race/class combo would you go for?

I would personally feel Dwarf Warrior and NE Hunter are more fitting but it’s your own preference at the end of the day.

If you really care what people are doing you can check out the leaderboards

Human is the most popular PvP racial choice on the whole.

I’ve seen very few nelf warrior players, so dwarves should be a better bet for that, with your nelf being a hunter.

Of course, feel free to go the other way around. All 4 combinations are valid (why wouldn’t they be, after all?)

And both races’ racials have their uses, an on-demand stealth ability is just as amazing as being able to dispel a ton of debuffs at once.

Do you want to be a mountaineer or a huntress?
A stoic warrior or a nimble one?

Keep in mind that night elf females are usually filling the roles as warriors and huntresses (sentinel army). Males are more focused on the druidic side of things. Of course there are exceptions, however such as Jarod Shadowsong.

I’ve thought about this as well - To my understanding the female NE’s became sentinels because the army was composed of former priests (who were all female), but the ‘gender’ restrictions were pretty much lifted between Warcraft 3 and WoW (and actually even retconned? so that they never existed), for example the female druid in the WoW trailer, and as you mentioned, the male NE warrior, Jarod Shadowstrong.

Great points. I thought about going Dwarf Warrior / NE Hunter as well. I just thought that maybe the explorer type dwarves are more of hunters + the WoW trailer has a hunter, but other than that, I’ve always thought of dwarves as warriors in any fantasy lore.

Thanks for these! Will check them out.

DW warrior, NE hunter.
It fits better with their race fantasy imho.
Night elves are quite scrawny things for the standards of Azeroth (I mean some other races have biceps thicker than a head).

I would say dwarf warrior and night elf hunter…but then I think of that dwarf hunter with his bear in the opening cinematic  make them both dwarf and go with druid night elf!
