What and when is this?
Where?: Bruuks tavern, the Military ward, Ironforge
When?: 30th of June 2024 - 20:00 realm time
Who?: Dwarven RPâers (Dwarf and Dark Iron)
Everyone (Dwarves, yes Dark Iron and Gnomes/Mecha-Gnomes too) are welcome to attend regardless of Guild or not being affiliated with a particular group. With various tavern games, guest ales and even bards each time, thereâs plenty to soften the mood.
The event will be broken down into several parts:
20:00 realm time - The Stomp:
As with a new tradition, new quirks are key! The Stomp is the opening âceremonyâ of the Bragdfunder where the prime organizer leaps on a table to address those gathered. Starting their speech with two stomps on the table, they tell a joke, let everyone know what is taking place and make the introductions!
20:30 realm time - Thumper!:
Taken from the head of âThumperâ, Thundermarâs infamous and temperamental ram. He boasted a staggering sized set of horns! Upon his death the townsfolk claimed them as a trophy and placed them upon a plaque. Rekkr Stormheart then pinched one, he believed it more fitting that the boisterous beast was honored in a more rowdy way. He filled it up with an absurd amount of ale! The challenge? To see if anyone has the stones to see it all off in one go - or to chunder trying! To this day itâs been a monumental feat to finish Thumperâs horn!
21:30 realm time - Tavern Game two: The Grim March
Within the depths of Blackrock, the Dark Iron clan were gifted little time for leisure. For work, toil and service were their ball and chain. However, one âgameâ stood the test of this grueling life: a trial of endurance through coals and flame. It was dubbed the âIron Marchâ, or âGrim Marchâ in local dialects. A bed of enchanted coals would be laid before them, and the slaves would be made to march over them to see if they can overcome the pain through strength and will.
In recent years the Dark Iron were welcomed back within the halls of Ironforge, and this âtestâ was cautiously adopted alongside them. Although with time the grim origins of the game faded to memory, now born anew with a name that now excites eager competitors throughout Khaz Modan and beyond. A mighty challenge that is a herald of both fun and firey pain!
The game of âHot Footâ as it is now known!
Side game (All night) - Axe Throwing!
Throughout the night, everyone present will have the opportunity to try their luck at Axe throwing, each lobbing three at the target board with two attempts. The Highest score at the end of the night (By the time of the last Stomp) wins a prize!
Q&A:
Why Dwarf Only?:- The Dwarves as a player community are just recovering from a period of scarcity, and many of us are keen to see us continue to grow and flourish. However, weâre also far flung across numerous guilds so it can be hard to get us all together and RP our characters in their racial setting as Dwarves - to that end itâs a Dwarf only event to keep the focus where it should! Additionally - our Gnomish cousins are also welcome!
Can I participate in all the games?:- Most events wonât require a sign up, and will only require you to form an orderly line to take part - in future iterations or return Bragdfunderâs this may not be the case however as we gauge interest (watch this space!). But this time around, just hop in line and have fun!
Can we Brawl?:- While itâs not strictly prohibited, the intention of the night is to socialize as a community and focus on beer and games. That being said, when it comes to a good old tavern Brawl we Dwarves do it best⊠So feel free! Just please avoid disrupting the games and greater gathering at large. If itâs a more serious dispute involving weapons, Itâd be preferred you take your duel to the city gate! And outright attempts at murder may more than likely result in participants Ostracizing themselves.
Can we bring our own ale?:- While the tavern will be run by a diligent volunteer, you are strongly encouraged to bring your characterâs own brews! More importantly, weâd love you to share them!
Is this like Brewfest?:- Absolutely not. Brewfest is a multi-racial drinking marathon, while Brugdfunder is intended to be a social gathering of folk having a bit of a âsessionâ, with a strong focus on side games and the weekend tavern vibe.
Whatâs the potential future for this?:- Itâs my hope as an event that can help build links between the parts of the Dwarf community, we should hold this every 2 months! Why 2 months you ask? Not too regular to get boring, not too far apart to be forgettable. That said, the intention is to also rotate the host location, with future intended spots including the Grim Guzzler, Kirthaven and eventually the isle of Dorn in the new expansion.
How can I take part?:- Just show up at the time! If youâd like an in game calendar invite too this can be arranged, just ask in game or on this forum thread!
What if I donât play a Dwarf or Gnome character and want to attend?:- Well, firstly, your loss. Dwarves are great! And so are Gnomes! And secondly, too bad! I strongly discourage showing up on anything but a Dwarf, gnome, mecha-Gnome and Dark Iron characters as this event is intended purely for characters of that race, in order for them to build bonds and grow relationships.
Can I attend this as a neutral or as a member of the Horde?:- There are easier ways to get yeeted off the side of a mountain by a gaggle of part drunk Dwarves and Gnomes, but I would plainly say - no.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask me in game or here on this thread! See you there!
