DX11 FPS issues - AMD

Hello,

Since last week, I’m encountering a huge FPS issue while playing wow (either retail or classic) in DX11. A bit of context : I’m playing in DX11 because I’m using an AMD 7900GRE GPU, meaning I can’t play wow using DX12 without experiencing constant driver timeouts. And I had no issue playing in DX11 for a while, averaging at 250-300fps outside of raids.

But since last week, my average fps dropped to 60-70. Going back to DX12 makes me average to 300+ again. So it seems to be linked to DX11. Which is even weirder, is that some day it works perfectly fine. It seems to be kinda random. DX11 legacy also is better (around 170+ fps). Also, whenever I switch to DX11, my GPU use goes up to 100% even tho my fps stays very low (whereas it used to be at like 70-80% at 200+fps).

I don’t think I’ve changed anything in my end.

Also, as a side note, I tested playing FF XIV since it also uses DX11 and I’m not having any problem there. Nor on any other game I’ve tested so far, except wow.

Anyone else having this issue ?

If you have not updated to version 24.5.1, try it because that driver has solved the blocking problems for many (unfortunately not for me). If your case is like mine, then you’ll have to wait and play as best you can.
