Idk, Galaxies did a very awesome job withj that. Star Wars Galaxies that is.
Plus, Tailors there had a meaning aside from making bags.
Also, Destiny and Destiny 2 have very nice shader costumisation too imho, but that would probally be to far fetched since it would take blizzard far to long to modify current equipment to be ready for a dye system or so.
wait what? how are players playing classic halting ANY creative mmorpg ideas from being implemented in BfA or beyond? are you really saying that all the work put into classic ended up giving us islands and warfronts in their current iteration? hmmm if ANYTHING, BfA and 9.0+ could take a lesson from classic about some of the things that MAKE an mmorpg an mmorpg. cause WoW has been moving more and more away from the feeling of an mmorpg the last 3 or so expansions.
yup. dunno what the question or answer was in the blizzcon 2018 thing, but like you say, its just not possible because the color and the model are basically one asset.
this is a great reason why they would never do it. lol so true!
GW2 has a nice enough dying system, but again, that was done from the start of the game. implementing it in WoW means either
redoing ALL transmogable armor and weapons to be able to be dyed or not, OR
a two tier system, where ALL transmogable armor and weapons available before a dye system would be left as they are and would be left behind, and then all new transmogable armor and weapons would have the new dye system.
not sure blizzard would put the resources into number 1, and number 2 would just split the playerbase/game.
It can be pulled off if they make a special type of armor in patch/expansion that can focus on dying.
What is annoying is that you might like a transmog set, but the colors truly put you off, regardless of ârecolorsâ it might offer too.
They can always stick to a specific dye palette to match the world and colors, but offer a lot more choices in terms of picking the color of your item.
The game doesnât need 10000000000000 dyes. Around 10-ish to choose from would be more than decent, as long as it stays true to WoW colors and art.
EDIT:
Overall this game really needs more in terms of character customization. Be it armor dyes, expanded creation and flexibility in choosing your build/playstyle/talents.
WoW falls behind a lot when it comes to actual customization. This is one of the priority features for the art team, imo.
Having texture artists meticulously revamp each single piece of armour to be compatible with full colour customisation seems like a massive waste of time when you consider the sheer amount of transmog combinations that you can already make in the base game.
Personally, Iâd prefer that time to be spent on designing new transmogs and armour variations for us to use, rather than spending it to allow players to skin up in full fluorescent yellow DK armour.
