As the title suggests. I’d like to try the role, but don’t want to be overwhelmed. Plus, since we have Hero talents, which spec and Hero talent combination would be great for the Mage Tower when it returns?
I would suggest priest as it has 2 healing specs. My first healing class was shaman, it was pretty easy as well. These days you can practice with follower dungeons
I’d say resto shaman is by far the easiest with the most straightforward and effective kit.

Disc priest.

As the other healer specs, the mage tower is just stupidly hard compared to disc priest.
Yeah, that healer challenge is a mess. A dungeon run without tank, with enemies that randomly picks target so you are screwed if all the enemies focus on one target. And you gotta dps/cc to not get overwhelmed.
Along with the dungeon having no camera space.
Heard for that shaman is one of the easier classes; I was happy with my fistweaver monk, but Priest is probably worse off because they lack an interrupt / stun on a shorter cooldown.
Disc priest doesn’t do the healer challenge, though.

Disc priest is my recommendation if it’s doable.
There’s a lot of defense, good healing and damage spells. Once you get the hang of it it’s really unique and fun to play
Pres isnt easy. Maybe just a grasp of it. But its way more advanced then lets say rsham, hpala and holy priest.
