Today I finally finished reading (more like suffering through) the “Otherworldly Ecologist” chain, and I can confidently say it was the worst quest chain ever created in the history of the entire universe… Long, boring, preachy, pointless, provocative, and most importantly — completely unrewarding XD Seriously, the only thing that could’ve saved this chain would’ve been burning those snakes alive… Please, not just on my behalf but on behalf of everyone, never force me to do something like this again under the label of a “campaign quest.” Never again… disgusting.
… I feel you , as I also got this achievement today
…but the quest that completed after that mentioned about still helping … I hope not, the eco dome looks fine as it is with the extra snakes!
You don’t have to do it.
The quest theme for me is amazing, and I won’t deny that actually doing stuff inside the Eco-Dome is rather soothing for me.
What I dislike is HOW some of the quests are done.
Basically all the ones where the targets were shared between all people in the area need to be changed, because it’s a complete nightmare to complete in prime time.
But keep the theme, keep the quests and their mechanics, just don’t keep them so…interruptable by people, give everyone their dedicated targets like the dailies do.
…one thing I found out today that I wish I had known before is that some of those quests could be done in phased mode - taking pictures/documenting - quieter etc
I like the quests too, the themes and also the quests themselves.
Best would be if there were enough other quests people could be busy with, so they didn’t have to super trigger on things like this.
The point where your criticism becomes pointless
I agree.
They should also give them a different map icon. Flagging them as campaign quests, isn’t helping.
You saw how the devs in gaming look today, what did you expect? Its a hive mind at this point.
Completed it, pure Hemet style quests… Only good stuff is valorstones.
To me the entire campaign has these issues:
(a) Some quests repeat themselves: Within the same “sub-campain” we go and photograph the same subjects twice
(b) They shouldn’t be labeled as “Campaign”. They’re regular quests. The main plot is not advanced by these.
(c) Quests were drip-fed one or two at a time to extend playtime. We have complained in the past about NPCs asking us one thing, us travelling there, then back, then the NPC asks a second thing at the same area, but these quests dialed it up to 11.
Instead of running back and forth 15+ times, we should be getting 8-10 quests at the same time, then get all the rest.
It felt as if a NPC had these quests: (a) Go kill 10 enemies (b) Good. Now go kill 10 of the same enemies. (c) Very good. Now go kill 10 of the same enemies. (d) Great. Now go kill 10 of the same enemies (e) Amazing! To break the mold, I want you to kill… the same enemies… but this time I want you to kill only 9! Entirely different! (f), (g), (h), (i), (j)… (y) follow suit. Then as (z) you unlock a repeatable quest which is a random quest of (a) through (y)
It was a hive mind in the past as well. Difference is, we were also part of the old hive. The new hive is incompatible in terms of what we look for in a video game.
Nope, not even close. Hemet’s quests for one were increasingly more difficult and even culminated in Group quests. At the same time, they were combat-oriented and having better equipment made them easier.
These quests have less than 5% of time spent on them in-combat, and have the exact same clear time whether you are a level 80 naked or a level 80 in full BiS equipment.
These quests were added by someone in the decision-making team who doesn’t even want to play World of Warcraft.
I agree with everything. I’d add:
- the questline serves no purpose: it doesn’t expand the world/lore, it doesn’t give any gear (even cath up, and world quests are a faster way to gather valorstones), and frankly, most people don’t seem to find them fun.
- quest bloat - the general theme of me restoring Karesh’s fauna could have been delivered without me taking pictures of bugs in hats, and many other quests.
I’m actually sad that resources were put into developing this as it is. The questline would could have had the same outcome and be more enjoyable at the same time with half the quests. Meanwhile, I find Karesh lacking compared to how detailed and lore rich Undermine was.
I think this achievement is going to be part of the meta from tww and you will get some very special mount after expansion ends
I don’t even wanna do those weeklies now, they suck too.
I feel like they shouldn’t have been flagged as main story quests. I would have still done them. But they didn’t feel like main story quests.
You’re free to leave the nest.
I agree with a lot of what other people have said so far.
I finished the questline this weekend and it was super anticlimactic. Just an achievement and the NPCs yelling huzzah. I mean…
I will never ever do any of the weekly quests there again. They are unrewarding, uninspiring, unenjoyable, and downright unpleasant to do.
To this day I still don’t understand the purpose of having those weekly quests. Why?!
The main questline is lame but it’s okay to have, even though it’s slop, because it is an attempt at trying to tell the story of K’aresh being reborn. It’s a terrible attempt, but it arguably has a place. It ties in with the world soul of K’aresh surviving.
My biggest gripe with the eco dome has turned out to be the developer video Blizzard did to preview the patch, as well as some blog posts and interviews, where they talked about bringing life back to K’aresh as if it was going to be the most amazing thing in WoW to see all the animals in this dome and travel around the world to find them, and so on.
And they did a similar thing for the “world PvP island” where one of the developers really looked forward to it and another was more like “PvP? Uh, that sounds dangerous, I better stay away, har har har!” And then the patch comes out and you’re doing these quests and looking at that lonely rock floating off to the side and going: “That’s it?!”
That’s been the biggest letdown, that Blizzard have started to become used car dealerships who try to sell you some sloppy half-broken crap whilst passing it off as the most amazing thing ever.
It’s not very becoming for them, it reeks of desperation, and it makes me suspicious of what they’ve presented for Legion Remix and Midnight.
Has to be a test run for AI generated quest chains, it all just reeks of AI slop.
I don’t think so at all.
And I think you think so out of convenience rather than conviction. Because then it coincides with another complaint you have.
Since you’re doing that I will take the opportunity to complain that the regular bee mount is unavailable to horde, which is outrageous.
Then i thank you for this opportunity to complain about the lack of a bee flight form for druid. That is truly outrageous!
