Hi all,
Started playing elemental and am finding it amazingly good fun.
Been reading up on the EU and US forums, trying to get some tips.
I was going to reply to s thread on the US forums but apparently I can’t post there so I thought I would make s quick thread here.
Basically, I have seen in several threads about ele rotation that elemental blast should be buffed by mote. However, having looked at the description of the talent, it buffs only nature, frost and physical damage, where elemental blast is unsurprisingly elemental damage.
Does the bonus apply and the talent description wrong? Can’t test atm as at work but would love to know. Thank you!
Well it does consume the MotE stack so I would hope it buffs it too
Tested it yesterday, yes it buffs elemental blast
A multi-school ability means the ability’s damage type is composed of more than one basic school. You can find all multi-school schools on wowpedia, as well as what basic schools each one is composed of.
For example, Paladin’s wake of ashes is radiant damage, which means fire+holy. Of the 2 schools that compose radiant, it will always pick the one that would deal the most damage. In our wake of ashes example, if you use wake of ashes against a target that has 10% fire vulnerability debuff, it will deal fire damage.
The combat log will still say “radiant damage” but for all effects and purposes it will be fire damage, it will not use the holy aspect at all.
This is important if you hit a target that has a 10% fire vulnerability debuff, and a 5% holy vulnerability debuff. In that case, Wake of Ashes will NOT recieve 15% damage bonus. It will pick the biggest bonus, which in this case is fire, and for all effects and purposes it will be a fire spell.
Elemental Blast is elemental damage, which means fire+frost+nature. Since MotE buffs your next fire, frost, or nature spell, Elemental Blast picks one of those elements and for all effects and purposes is a fire OR frost OR nature spell. If MotE only buffed your next fire spell, Elemental Blast would still consume the buff and benefit from it by being a fire spell for that cast.
Ahhh ok I didn’t know that. Thank you guys!
