So, 10.0.07 did hit and we all got many vault keys and looted some BOA tokens for alts.
When it got announced we would get the catch up gear i was quite happy as i level quite some chars at the start of expansions.
So i was expecting to find a vendor aswell for these catch up tokens since we seen vendors with catch up gear most of the time. (In SL korthia for dust etc)
This time however, i cant seem to find any vendor.
Would have been nice to convert all that elemental overflow into the boa tokens you can also get from drops to reliably gear alts.
I am swimming in plate tokens but i dont need any. All other armor specs i would love to get bracers or boots or just anything. A vendor for all tokens would have been great.
Well they have done something different, which isn’t quite what you want. But it does let you target the gaps that need filling.
Rares now drop Storm Sigils. Which mean you can buy the item you need, upgrade it with Storm Sigils, and then upgrade it again using the Forbidden Knowledge.
Ofcourse this doesn’t mean you can send them to alts. But if you have already gathered most of the Tokens on your main. It shouldn’t take you too long to fill in the final few pieces running your alt through a few rares.
Again, I know that isn’t exactly what you want. But that is fair, quick and easy solution.
Yes, this is what I’m doing on my Spriest. Dinged 70, equiped enough tokens to comfortably not die against rares and am filling in the gaps by collecting sigils. The drop rate is about 50% on sigils.
I hope this isn’t a sign of how catch up gear will work for the rest of DF. I’m hoping 10.1 or 10.2 will have a Zerith Mortis style gearing approach.
I could take a freshly dinged alt to Zerith Mortis and either buy some gear with Anima, open up some chests, kill World Boss or do the WQs or Dailies and be reasonably geared in a week of low intensity play. My main did the Console and got 252s and my alts settled for 233s.
I’ve not leveled any alts so far and Forbidden Reach is not nudging me towards doing so yet.
Yeah aware of this system, yet its very slow and tedious.
I geared 2 alts way faster by doing M+ and some dungeon runs than spending time on the forbidden reach.
Feels like the whole tokens / catch up system isnt working so smoothly as Zereth Mortis or other catch up methods of the past.
I dont mind it needs some work on my chars to gear them up, although this isnt a reliable way of gearing them up.
ZM was a new main content Patch. So a smooth catch up system was more required.
FR is a small content patch before a major patch. So the catchup doesn’t necessarily need to be more immediate. And I’m sure that 10.1 will have a more immediate catch up option like ZM did.
Infact, I’m only collecting these items to send to my alts to send through the Catalyst converter anyway. The catch up is just nice a bonus.
But however you choose to fill in those missing gaps, whether it’s through M+ , Raiding or farming the Tokens, how you choose to play is down to you.
