Elevating the Mak'gora Duels: Honoring the True Spirit of Battle!

Greetings, fellow adventurers,

As a dedicated player on the hardcore classic World of Warcraft server, I’ve witnessed both the thrill and the challenges posed by the Mak’gora duels. Unfortunately, it’s become evident that certain practices leading up to these duels have tarnished their honor. Duelists are engaging in dishonorable tactics, such as changing their items at the last moment, stacking damage absorption items, and exploiting various strategies that go against the true spirit of battle.

I’d like to propose a comprehensive solution that not only promotes fairness during the Mak’gora but also upholds the honor of the battles. Let’s draw inspiration from the retail arena system:

Mak’gora Arena of Honor:

  1. Engaging in Battle: Instead of signing up for Mak’gora duels, participants can engage in duels with others in the open world as they currently do. When a duel is accepted, and both parties agree, a unique opportunity will arise.
  2. Teleportation to the Arena: Upon mutual agreement and engagement in battle, players will have the option to be teleported to a dedicated Mak’gora arena. This arena will have rules mirroring those of the retail arena, enforcing a level playing field for all participants, with the use of consumables and gear declared at the time of the duel’s acceptance.
  3. Spectator Mode: To enhance the experience for all players and to discourage dishonorable practices, we can introduce an option for players to watch the Mak’gora duels as spectators. Access to this feature can be granted by paying an entrance fee, such as 1 gold. The majority of this fee will go to the winner of the Mak’gora duel, further incentivizing competitive and honorable duels. A smaller portion can be retained for administrative purposes, but the larger share should reward the victor.
  4. Spectator Seats: Spectators should have designated seating areas within the arena, providing a genuine spectator experience.

By implementing these changes, we can elevate the Mak’gora duels to a higher level of competitiveness and integrity. This reimagined Mak’gora will not only allow participants to showcase their skills but also reinforce the true spirit of battle, free from dishonorable practices that have marred it in the past.

Let us come together as a community, with the support of Blizzard, to honor the spirit of battle and restore the Mak’gora duels to their rightful place as tests of skill, courage, and honor. Thank you for your attention, and I eagerly await your feedback and thoughts.

May your blades stay sharp, your honor remain unblemished, and your duels be remembered for their true spirit!

It’s not a bad idea. I like the idea of Makgora enforcing certain rules, for example the gear set worn when the duel is accepted is the gear set you must use.

I think the main issue with Makgora (that this doesn’t really solve) is that nobody does them . Some people may do it at very low level such as 1-15 and occasionally perhaps even a level 20-30 but it is extremely rare. There is no incentive to do it.

I think you would need to offer more of an incentive than just gold to make it something people actually wanna do

I haven’t done any of Mak’gora, but from the videos I’ve seen people change their full gear set at the last seccond. Which is just silly. Once you agree for a match - gear should be locked.

Am I the only one who feels like Makgora is a nonsensical feature that should be there, but not even looked at twice? I get it, theres a couple people who can throw away 100+ Hours of their life for 1 duel, but investing development time for these people sounds like catering to the 0.1%.

Makgora could be very hype but dinging on an npc or changing gear shouldn’t be possible, it’s stupid beyond words.
People don’t accept makgoras because of these reasons, they bring the most lowest degenerate tricks to the table that just makes you look stupid.
Idiots that change their gear to full bis full enchanted ruined the whole thing, you can beg for days on my server for a makgora, and all you get is an honorless idiot that dings on the npc.

???

People dont accept Makgoras because what you can win stands in no relation to what you lose. I would say 99% of Makgoras are lvl10 Chars in Crossroads or butthurt millenials who killstealed each other , making a bad decision.

Not everyone is looking at the game from your perspective, the ear buff would be enough of an incentive to a lot of people, but it means nothing when it’s a cheat-off.
It’s not about gain or lose, it’s about the prestige of having ears, and the hype of dueling to the death. The enjoyment.
Nobody enjoys a rigged match tho. So we came full circle, nobody will accept it. You understand?

No, I dont understand. We are still trying to solve a problem basically nobody has. You are not the main character, I dont see the Ingame Chat looking for Makgora Duelists, they are playing the game, leveling their Characters.

MY Solution would be: Remove Makgoras. They arent classic, nobody needs them.

You do see people occasionally looking for makgoras, and there are also videos of people doing it, you living under a rock mate?
YOU don’t need it doesn’t mean nobody does, ironic you mention I’m not the main character when you clearly act like you are.
You are just a typical pvp hater spouting your nonsensical opinion as fact, why are you even reading something like this?
Pvp is popular on classic and just because a forum nobody like yourself says otherwise won’t change it.
By the way, looks like I and the OP need makgoras, so you are FACTUALLY incorrect with no room to opinion.

You dont really understand what I am saying, right?

When you have a game with 100.000 Players, you dont focus on the Issue of 200 Players, but the Issue of 60.000 Players. Makgoras are a SUPER small fraction of a fraction of the player base, because most people playing Classic are grown ups with limited time and definitely not enough time to throw it away in 1 duel. Thats why asking for Makgora changes will lead to nothing, since even big issues arent getting tackled by the Devs from what we can see.

They must fight naked and use only their fists. All buffs removed.
