When I search in weapon appearances there are two version of weapons (and off hands, shields etc.) similar to how there are two version of sets (gladiator and elite).
How do you get the ‘elite’ version of weapon however?
You don’t get that for rating as far as I know (or do you?)
E.G. When I search for Unchained Gladiator’s Dory, there is purple (buyable from vendor) version and silver version, which is the one I ask about (as far as I know unobtainable).

Meaning duelist+ cosmetics unlock
oh, I didn’t know, I’m around 1900-2000 so far, but this make sense.
Still bit annoying since it’s not just reaching rating, but also spending conquest if you want all transmog options.
As well as having to reach it on multiple chars.
pretty sure you will unlock it just by hitting duelist and if you are rival that early in the season, which most likely will be as long as last one, you will get these skins without much sweat 
Yes yes, I’m not worrying about rating (my max so far is 2390 xD). If you’re right about that (and I do get it just by reaching rating and not having to upgrade it) then that’s very cool.

It is. After information given from you, I went to PvP stream to check whether they do have unlocked elite versions - they do, but only of those items they bought and have them at 5/5. So it’s not automatic and you have to have the item (unlike set pieces).
so you will have to cap your duelist alts for a few weeks to unlock more of them.
tedious but shouldnt be a hussle
also for cloth set heroic Maledict opus is a better match
while for mail lfr blue colour matches better imho
Both the weapon upgrade and the skin require 2400 rating from what i remember.
Thats previous season when there was a plus 1 upgrade for weapons to 233 and related elite appearance
Now its more casual friendly i guess and that additional upgrade for weapon has been removed. Duelist should give you both best ilvl and access to all appearances.
However OP has confirmed you will have to buy and upgrade each weapon to 5/5 to unlock this white skin.
( which doesnt even match well with any of elite armour sets, but i guess its a seasonal reward )
What I mind is that I won’t be able to unlock all of them and it’ll cost a lot of conquest. That just sucks. Very bad design imo.
Well farming cosmetics for the sake of cosmetics is tedious.
Collecting all mythic raid weapons for tmog in current season is a pain too, but they arent even seasonal and special as pvp ones.
Yes that’s the problem. I won’t be able to unlock them after season ends.
I will be able to unlock Mythic weapons after.
Not just you, but everyone. Keep that in mind.
As i wrote before unless your sub expires in a month you can farm these weapons several times over. 9.1 wont be like legion seasons, there is no way you miss out on them if you will play.
If you advocate for the removal of seasonal part its another discussion. But i cant see why a pvp player can complain about being forced to pvp to get cosmetics. Sorry.
