We human beings have a choice. We have self-conscienceness and an understanding of our actions.
So I’m of course speaking about this in a human-based manner.
You are then putting some kind of judgement on someone according to some numbers. Yeah, I’d say that’s kinda toxic. Horribly shallow at the very least.
I could now very well add a reply here where I say something like ‘sounds like you want to be carried yourself’, but you know… I’m not a troll.
Well, then you are either a very bad judge of character or you simply don’t understand words very well. Or both. Whatever reason you have; you’re wrong.
And I’ve told you this on numerous occassions and yet you keep saying it. That, my friend, is trolling.
yeah, but who pays for the pizza?
probably you…
you have to have the money to be able to order something, so no instant gratification…
you know, in my country, school works in a really good way, which can be compared to raiding…
first you have elementary school, after that depending on a paper you get to do either haupschule (the easiest) realschule (middle difficulty and a little bit longer than hauptschule) and gymnasium (the hardest and longest school path)
also if you graduate from gymnasium, you get abitur, which enables you to study in university…
you can get abitur from all the paths, if you work yourself up the ladder, but it will be the fastest to go from the gymnasium, which requires you to have really good grades in elementary school
if you have really bad grades you go to hauptschule… but if you are determined to work for it, you can still get abitur…
this works pretty well with the raid difficulties, if you compare hauptschule with Normal, Realschule with Heroic and gymnasium with mythic, you can always work your way up, but you have to study, you have to WORK yourself up, no one will push you through this, there are people who WILL help you, but you have to pass the tests on your own…
even with jobs, depending on which path you graduate from, you can take different jobs…
there are exceptions, but normally, those graduated from the highest school get the better payed jobs…
and with this payment you can order your pizza granted the money is enough… so you still work for your pizza
Ok, so what I gather is that people dislike carrying people who don’t know what they’re doing? And that is caused by people who get high gear in lower-skill-requirement content and then want to skip stuff and go straight to a higher content level.
That’s it, correct?
Then there’s a very easy solution if that’s all it is;
Institute trials again. Prove you can use that gear.
Pass the trial for your chosen role; you can run that content now as that role.
I’ll give you a quote which perfectly explains why that money doesn’t matter. That’s not what instant gratification is about.
Instant (or immediate) gratification is a term that refers to the temptation, and resulting tendency, to forego a future benefit in order to obtain a less rewarding but more immediate benefit. When you have a desire for something pleasurable—be it food, entertainment, or sex—you rarely think thoughts like, “My stomach is rumbling and I would love to have that delicious dish, but I’d rather wait another hour.”
It doesn’t matter. We are still subjects to the same natural laws. Without competition there is no need for an entity (be it a human individual, or a group of human individuals or an organization or anything at all) to further progress their development, to evolve, to improve, to learn, to do anything else than just eat, drink and sleep? Humans are no different when it comes to the laws o nature.
Well, what else should I judge that someone on? If I wanted to be irl friends with that someone I would judge them according to their personality (because that’s what’s matters), if I want to hire them for my company I would judge them according to their skills (because that’s what matters), if I want to invite them to my raid / M+ group I would judge them according to their in-game numbers - logs, score, in-game experience, etc BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT MATTERS! There is nothing toxic about this! People judge other people for everything and every time they have to interact with each other and there is nothing toxic about this!
And I can give an example:
not toxic - We being in the same raiding group and me telling you your dps is too low for the gear you have equipped so you need to improve it;
toxic - We being in the same raiding group and me (playing a priest) gripping you away from the boss on CD for the entire fight so you (playing a low-mobility melee class like DK) have low uptime on the boss and then harassing you for your low dps. Now that would be toxic.
like I said, if you want to order a pizza, you need to have money to pay for said pizza…, which means, you need to get said money from somewhere, which makes it not instant…
ordering the pizza is in this case pretty similar to doing a raid or battleground, getting a currency for doing the raid and then going to the vendor (pve or pvp) to buy a gear piece… still not instand…
That would work except that caused a lot of Complaints in WoD, but yes that is the main issue, with how gearing works at the moment with warfronts and worldbosses that do absolutely nothing to prepare anyone for instanced PvE players reach a level where m10 and heroic raiding (in extreme cases even Mythic) is the only place to get upgrades.
There are two blizzard made problems here.
1 You can not blame people for thinking that they are ready for the content that is at a difficulty that gives them upgrades while they already outgear the one below that. Numbers wise it makes sense to them, but difficulty wise there is not even any correlation.
2 It is actually difficult to figure out if you are good or not without any 3rd party input. Without meters and sims or logs I would have absolutely no idea if I do okay with the firepower my gear gives me or not because worldbosses dont do anything and I can pull half a zone and massacre it without issues.
If there are no failstates there is nothing that makes you even realize you might do something wrong. This is essentially the kid that plays the flute horrendously but everyone claps to not make the kid sad, which is nice and wholesome but also means the kid will never get better.
you learn your affixes in lower level dungeons. You don’t jump into high keys like a lost sheep and go « oh sorry xd ». That’s plain rude to your party.
How about not judging at all. Just play alongside that person and see how it goes. He or she might surprise you. That person might turn out to not be a very good player, but very friendly and just a great person to socialize with. Etc. You wouldn’t know because you choose to judge a person on a number.
they already tried this in WoD… it didn#t really work out, because the trial was really hard for some classes, which only perform well, with the right gear, also it was not realistic… I remember doing the healer trial, which had the npc’s constantly standing in everything… like really everyithing… they didn’t evade a single mechanic… stood in the fire ALL the time, and as a priest, I can pull them out, once, every few seconds, with 3 npc’s constantly standing in everything, I didn’t have time to pull them out with my puny gear…
not to mention the emotional pain he will go through…
everyone around him told him, that he was doing great, yet he was not… this can really and I mean REALLY hurt…
if you are not doing great, someone needs to tell you in a constructive way… someone has to tell you, what you are doing good, and what bad, so you can improve, but saying, hey you did really great will not help, if this is a lie…
See this is where you are wrong… I’m judging the player, not the person behind it! When I make a raid / M+ group my intention is to successfully complete it, not to find new life-long friends. If the 2nd happens while still doing the 1st, then great, I’d be very happy. But 1st is the main task, 2nd is a mere bonus. Why does everything have to be personal? It’s not!
Except it doesnt work that way. Positive and Negative reinforcement always go hand by hand. You cant have only one or the other because they both have degrading effects if used alone leading to no improvement or development whatsoever.
Yes this is exactly the opposite of what you said in your previous comment. You finally start to understand. A BREAKTHROUGH!
