By now, Elune is basically the only uhm… uhm… thing we don’t know anything about. We only know that she’s there and that she’s really powerful. She’s basically the only god that we haven’t killed or dealt with, yet.
What do we know about her? She’s a Moon Goddess. Her Priestesses are women only. They are warriors that wield moon like powers, but can also heal, like the Light, but not exactly the Light. Druids also revere her as the mother of Cenarius, the greatest and most powerful of their demi gods.
Does anyone have any guess about who or what Elune actually is?
Well ,we know from Legion that she is above Eonar ,and Eonar is same " rank " as others on that throne where we fought Argus.
This i wrote in another thread but i will write again
Elune as El - une
Sumerian :
EL is “god” ( and apparently “god” of Atlantis ,the myth Greeks wrote but Egyptians passed in spoken form )
That “EL” becomes part of many words in Mediterranean cultures ,including Greek.
examples : ArchangEL , ELysian fields ( both divine terms )
Also, Hebrew : Elohim.
El-une
une from Latin " unus " = one ( modern English " unite " same root )
So if we know that wow terminology and lore is inspired from actual etymology and folk lore around the world with little bit of twist ,we can safely say that Elune is "one God "
Now ,some people will say but there are many gods in wow bla bla .Yes but one is above others
Also Germanic word " God " doesn’t mean creator and never did. God’s were
" wielders " of various forces “appointed” by creator, and in some cases ancestors who ascended to higher form of existence.
It was sort of implied that she is Winter Queen’s sister in Ardenweald main quest chain. When asked to help revive seed with Ysera’s spirit in it she said something along the lines: “why should I help my sister’s pet”
I remember killing wolves for a pair of mittens to warm my hands in the bitter and cold winds of Dun Morogh.
Now, I’m killing literal gods as if they were critters.
I think she said her sister, she meant the Archon. Ysera spent her life in service and duty, guarding nature and the Emerald Dream. She might have been supposed to go to Bastion.
Oh… This bit I also thought of Elune. I guess I need to replay that. I had totally forgot about that detail, but she kinda made me think of Elune. Might be because the whole questline seems to revolve around the night warrior.
The pantheon of death adress eachother as if they’re siblings where they are obviously not.
The same could be true for how they adress titans, I wouldn’t expect actual familial ties, more like two powerful entities existing on the same power plateau.
That said the pantheon of death based on what we have seen really do not come across as if they can even come close to what the actual titans can do, even tho they’re supposed to be equal
I don’t think Jailor Anduin would’ve gotten a stab like that off on like Aman’thul
Would be plausible to have a Moon vs Sun expansion. Least we know that scarlet is still active, Yrel is drugged out on light and Tyrande is still rummaging torghast for Sylvanas.
While ineed it were the Titans who made the Emerald Dream and empowered the dragons, upon Yseras death is was the Elune who took her spirit away. If Ysera ended up in Ardenweald because of her devotion to nature or has Elune bent the rules and let her favorite dragon go there without queue at Arbiter we can debate. But titans never were shown to be affectionate towards any of their creations nor are they omnipresent and all-seeing. Thats why they leave their “children” (watchers and keepers) to take care of things in their absense and call in Algalon if things go not according to the plan.
So to summarize, Eonar probably didn’t knew or care about Ysera’s fate and she wouldnt be able to intervine nor would she bother if she could. Titans aim is for the mortal world to work like a clock - automated and ordered mechanism that requieres minimal overseeing. I doubt they care much about afterlife - maybe Argus would if he ever have gotten the chance.
Well the entire point of being a god is their sense of mystery I mean look at the Old Gods and where THEY ended up as soon as we found out how they looked like.
