Enchanting is a standalone profession, nothing really goes with it. I think they’re suggesting tailoring simply because your mage is a cloth user. I’d go with engineering if you just wanted an useful fun profession. There are no “best” professions to start out with, just go with what you want.
And most professions are mainly used to make gold. Tailoring can give you some gear when you get to max level and engineering unlocks a bunch of toys/tools that can actually be helpful in certain situations (I always pick engineering unless I specifically need something else). Go with what you feel like I guess.
Thanks, since my main is a miner and I like farming gems on him anyway, I think my alt will be enchanter and jewellery crafter. Then at least I have some symmetry at least lol
Jewelcrafting is now really easy to level up alongside enchanting, half of the stuff you dont disenchant you can scrap for ores and craft gems from it, really easy, fast and no need for mining anymore …
Like others have mentioned, there isn’t any other profession with good synergy with enchanting. The dust you’ll get from useless pieces you get from lvling tailoring is negligible. I’m enchanting and engineering on this toon. Engineering gives you nitroboost, goblin glider on your cloak, portals to all zones in northrend, portals to area 52/ toshley’s station, gadgetzan/everlook (goblin/gnome spec), to pandaria, argus etc, portable mailbox, Jeeves, Reaves, some engineer only mounts, crafting mounts/ pets (debatable value since they never sell haha) recently we got battle ress, its a decent profession. Along with portals, your mage wont have much travel time no matter where you’re going
